I haven't used it yet, and I normally wouldn't bother with movie or tv shows from amazon, but I could get a free movie to watch, so I probably will take advantage of it.

I used the Kindle books for $1 offer, and there were actually quite a number of books I would have wanted. I got a $12.99 books for $1; I checked the receipt to be sure and there it was.

With the KSO 3g only being $25 more than the KSO wifi I kind of want to exchange mine lol.

I'm happy with WiFi only.

Wonder if Amazon will kill off the other three versions? Bezos said that 3G generates more sales for Amazon than WiFi does.

I'm fine with wifi now but once the kid(s) get older we plan on traveling more and I could see 3g coming in handy. But then again, I'll probably just end up upgrading and it'll be a non-issue haha.

Talk has been that Amazon would eventually ditch 3G like B&N did; but given what Bezos said today, 3G's future seems secure for the time being.

But then again, maybe Amazon has too many 3G units in stock and is dropping the price to clear out inventory to make room for a touch screen K4 WiFi only this fall. Who knows?

One article I read said the 3rd quarter would have 2 new Kindles, one with a touch screen, as well as a tablet. With 3G generating 20% more book sales, it looks like we will have it for a while, especially if they are getting price offsets from AT&T for ads. It is just possible that Kindle 3G is a profit center for both Amazon and AT&T, especially as B&N has dumped it.

As for the new cheaper model, that price is just what I was waiting for. My order went through a few hours ago. Finally, I get something just after the price drop.

I saw that WSJ article too. Maybe WiFi for the new keyboard model and 3G for the touch screen?

i'm trying to get a book here, but for some reason I can't turn off the damn one click purchase no matter how many times I try, and even though it SAYS it is off, so I can't put in the code. I don't get this at all!

eta: after much wrangling, I realized that I can't actually turn off one click for kindle purchases even if I am actually on my laptop rather than buying straight from my kindle (I think that's true anyway....if I can do it, let me know!) and then in annoyance, I finally clicked "terms and conditions" on the email they sent me, and discovered I put in my code THERE, and apparently then will get the $1 book when I hit one click.

The process could have been clearer, that's for sure!
