It's always too early...or too late.
If you always aim for the benchmark unit, you have to prepare yourself for replacement cycles of less than 12 months.
Else I'd recommend: Once decided (= bought) stick to your decision. Else you'll end up in a spending frenzy - and still will be one step too late most of the time anyway...
