Ha! I'd like to take credit for starting page 666 off with Dawkins and Lovecraft, but alas I wasn't even paying attention when I did so. So, I'd be lying if I said it was intentional. Oh and I couldn't get the Lovecraft download to work on Kindle for PC. Could be because I'm not in Canada (they're public domain in Canada, doesn't say anything about the US) |

I'm currently reading Solis by A. A. Attanasio. It's the free Pheonix Pick for July. At first I didn't care for it really. The writing style was really off-putting. I stuck with it and at about 10% into the book I was starting to enjoy it. Now, about a third of the way in, I'm hooked.

Just finished "The Bones of Avalon" by Phil Rickman. I got bogged down in a few spots but all in all, a very good read. This is new release day so I'm spoiled for choice over here... the new Kevin Hearne is out, the Naked City anthology (with a new Jim Butcher short story) is out... and a bunch of cozy series I follow, plus some new ones.... Can't make up my mind what to start next! |

And I couldn't give a damn for whatever copyrights claims anywhere over works almost one hundred years old, specially as the author being dead almost as long as well. BTW, next year Hemingway is going public domain. Hope his once beautiful daughters have had a luxurious enough life. | |

I just read this great SF story as I walked at lunch from the Year's Best SF -27th edition - "The Twilight of the Gods" by John C Wright. Very Impressive, but thought the ending didn't quite live up to its build up.... still....I'm going to seek out more of his work and read it. Anyone else familiar with him? Suggestions or comments?
