A back lit/LCD screen... horrible, period.

An ugly device. Books are beautiful objects, a ereader has to be beautiful too.

When ereaders were $220 if you caught a good sale I had a lot of requirements:

Chip memory of some sort
Selection of formats
User replacable battery
Size

At that price point, I could only justify the expense of one each for my wife and I.

Its a whole different game now, and I am okay with getting something like my PRS-350 just for the feature of fitting in my breast pocket since it was close to the $100 price point on sale. I imagine I shall acumulate an ereader for each place in the house we used to keep magazines and books over time. Contrary to the convergence only advocates one machine isn't required to do everything.

Backlit screen
keyboard taking up space
content format tied to one source (e.g. Amazon)
Not following the KISS rule

I used to think LCD screen, but I have a Nook Color and an iPad- turns out, my eyes aren't bothered by the screen.

I guess I'm easy

. I tend to look at what combination of features a reader has- I don't have a feature that kills it for me. I have 4 at this point and they all have things that I love.

Will not even consider buying if it's only available in white. Thank goodness the Kobo offers a black model. I would've had to pass. Funny because I prefer the iPad 2 in white.
