man, if you tell yourself you can't do something, you can't.
i made a big ordeal over reading "process and reality", and it really isn't so bad. ![]() going to be reading that whitehead book awhile now. ![]() ![]() Last edited by Ditchleyportrait; 07-04-2011 at 09:07 PM. |

Dawkins is an idiot. When he bows before the feet of Jesus he will find that out, just like the rest of us. Only for him it might be too late. Don't let it be too late for you. Scientific FACT and religion are compatible.

Evidently, it was a donation and the donor switched the covers. I guess some people read books without the cover. For something different I'm reading Dauntless by Jack Campbell. A quick read until the library gets me another copy of Blood Harvest. |

I'm reading Game of Thrones now, 30% done. The story is okay, if not too specificly and complexly developed. The theme is so dark.
Oh, and that miserable Viserys. That's his name, right? The "wake the dragon" boy? He's real fun ![]() @ Kenny: I'm glad you posted again. Couldn't believe my eyes, I had to look to the date to see if it was from 4 months ago, just to be sure... |

Yesterday, I finished Tess Gerritsen's Vanish (#5 Rizzoli and Isles). This series gets better with each book. I read about a third on Sunday and had planned to read another third on Monday but I couldn't put it down. I love how Gerritsen is able to weave both a storyline of one of the two main characters and other characters into one without having it feel that it's all/mostly about the main characters.
I'm now reading The Cat Who Sniffed Glue by Lilian Jackson Braun, after that I think I'll have a go at James Clavell's Shogun. |

You might like to take this over to the Religion and Politics forum. I don't think it's appropriate here.

I've finished Embassytown by China Mieville. It's a challenging, but rewarding read that's very different to any sci-fi I've read.
If you like language and its workings you'll love this. Full review - http://worldsinink.blogspot.com/2011...bassytown.html Please let me know if the review makes sense. It's one of those novels you have to have read to know what's going on. Last edited by Crusader; 07-05-2011 at 04:47 AM. |

And vice-versa, of course. On-topic: I'm still reading the fourth book in the "Hooded Swan" series by Brian Stableford. I like this fourth book more than the first three. |

Currently reading World War Z, which is as close to a "literary" treatment of the subject as I have yet come across. Told in a series of interviews, it shows great insight into political and personal responses to a crisis of these proportions.
No idea how they are going to make a coherent movie out of, though... |
