We went to a 'real' family restaurant last week. There was an argument going on at every table!

With a few exceptions, probably from my family.

I just got back from a big family gathering for the 4th, complete with babies and dogs. We cooked up a big pot of Low Country Boil and ate until we were stuffed, then played around outside for a while. Four generations represented, and I think we all had a really good time. Good night, John Boy.

*sigh* the 4th is mostly my second favourite holiday but my dog REALLY is terrified of the firecrackers. I just fed her some doggie downers, hopefully she will relax now. poor thing ;o(

Yes, Sammy dog is afraid of fireworks and storms and every other loud noise thing too. He didn't go with us today. However, my nephew had his new young Doberman with him, and he wasn't phased by the hectic atmosphere we had going on, along with occasional claps of thunder. He was schooled a bit (very gently) by my sister's German Shepherd. He's going to outweigh her by quite a bit -- he promises to be huge -- so it was a good thing to see India put him down a few times to keep him from getting too big for his britches! And he knew the drill, too -- he would only go so far with taunting her, then he'd drop to the ground and roll over. It was fun watching them establish boundaries with one another.

First my poor little Goldie cat hid from all our storms. Came out & gobbled down a late dinner. Now she's hiding from the fireworks.

September 16th (the start of the Mexican War of Independence) is the more important date along with September 27th (the end of the war). What is strange is that the span from the 16th to the 27th is 11 days and the war lasted 11 years. September is backyard party weekends around me, Labor Day, Día de la Independencia, and Consumación de la Independencia. Lots of BBQ's, loud music, and fireworks (illegal, of course).
