But I don't wear them in the UK.
Never.
I think it would look ugly on me and out of place in this country
I wear them only on beach holidays. Over there, regardless how my legs look there are too many far worse examples for me to worry about attracting an unwanted attention
When I see men in crocks in town here....let's say it looks odd.

Ok, I get it. I just wore them to mow the lawn (in long cargo pants, of course) - nice protection, and cooling too .

Love my Crocs - they're of the flip flop variety, and are the bestest dog walking footwear ever (esp. when you live somewhere where it's 80+ degrees at 5:30 am...).

I am afraid Americans are a bit too much in love with flip flops
3 years ago when we were in Mexico, we went to Coba

One of the last pyramids where you were allowed to climb/ascend to the top.
We had 3 Americans in our group who climbed up as well as did the whole one hour walk through jungle in flip flops....

this was confusing. the belt goes around your waist (at least) once, right? you were talking about the way the belt goes, first from the tummy, then to the back, then reappears and meets the buckle? or the direction of the other end of the belt? and that direction is from the belt user, or from the others looking at him?

in case I am confusing, it's counterclockwise for me

What's your opinion?

Stitchawl
they are awfully ugly, no doubts.

I tried them once or twice. And I didn't think they were comfortable, not at all. My toes were pushed up too often to my taste

But these are real comfortable: plastic flip flops in Vietnam
They look horrible (I strongly object to wearing one to go to downtown), but are the most comfortable flip flops I've ever known.

(the white ones, with small holes)

I think this may have been the same group I was with in Cappadocia in Turkey - thought they could climb into the caves wearing flip flops and sandals. Needless to say, they went and investigated the local carpet sellers while the few of us who actually wore something slightly more appropriate went rock climbing...

Those three did climb up! It was dangerous. There were no rails except one rope hanging down. No wonder a few other pyramids were closed for tourists after a few of us fell off

I have a feeling my opinion is going to change after reading through this two page (!) thread (and it just started after I went to bed last night!)

I never have tried them on either, like you, I figured they'd be terribly uncomfortable and I don't like the way they look either. But I do see them on LOTS of the nurses at the hospital so either that's a different kind, or they must be comfortable...

Really? Intriguing, since I figured they'd be hot and sweaty on the feet as well.

I had a pair of sandals that did this. They only lasted one season.

Iri; very glad you started the thread, and look, you already have a fashion debate going on! As for me, I just found out (and don't laugh, y'all, I normally hate clothes shopping and don't pay attention) that Hanes here in the U.S. has started packaging women's tank tops and tees in multi packs like they've been doing for men for ages. I grabbed a couple of packages and the tees are the most comfortable things EVER. And cheap! I need some more shorts, but don't know where or when I'll get them, since I didn't get the ones from Kohl's yesterday. I also want/need another good pair of leather "earth shoes" sturdy sandals.

For real?!?!? Are there different color shirts in the packs? I have a couple of their women's t-shirts from a few years ago that REALLY need to be replaced. (don't laugh - Hane's makes great house cleaning/dog walking/car washing t-shirts, and they LAST)

YES!! I got a package of tees, one sky blue and one aqua; they also had packages with one gray and one black. The tanks I got were one pink and one blue, but they had different ones in those as well. There's probably more color combinations, I ran into these at our local Dollar General and haven't checked for them anywhere else yet.

I would love to come over (I'm always up for a BBQ!), but I don't think I'll be able to make it there in time I like those pants that you can roll up or down depending on weather. My new linen pants are like that too!

I think this might be like the toiletpaper orientation-issue. But for me: defintely left to right!

Yes, this thread has taken off nicely

About the crocks: I've heard from several people already that they are really comfortable. But they are so ugly I would never ever wear them.
