Those bags are pretty cool! And yes, I too was thinking if/when we make friends we could watch each others stuff.

We definitely plan on going to the Mayan Ruins and other things. We are actually going down to see a doctor there for In-Vitro Fertilization, so a few hours of lot of our days will be spent in the clinic and the rest relaxing.

I've taken my Kindle with me on vacation before. If I'm at the pool or beach, I just hide it in my towel while I'm in the water.

I have not bought a physical book in over 7 months. I would prefer to read off my Nook if possible, but was unsure of what most people with readers do. Do you buy books just to read while away? Or read off your reader and leave it on your bed/chair?
We went on a cruise in April and I had my 650 with me by the pool. I was not close enough to get splashed. I'm not sure about the beach though.

I would never vacation without a digital reader of some sort along. If I was somewhere that I was overly worried about theft I'd probably take my older K2 instead of the new one.

But I take my K3 camping all the time.

I'm just the opposite. I take vacations to get away from my daily routine; that means no reading and no TV.

reading isn't just "daily routine" for me, it is just as necessary as breathing and eating

Agreed!

I just returned from a vacation involving a five-hour flight each way -- what was I supposed to do - twiddle my thumbs?

I stayed with my folks, so didn't read a lot at their place, but it was nice having a book at bedtime, or an audiobook to listen to while walking around town.

I would buy and take magazines for places that I don't want to have to worry about them getting wet/taken/etc and save the reader for when I'm relaxing in the room. I'd treat it the same -- hiding it under a towel and so forth -- but I would be less worried about leaving it behind while I wander off.

I am leery of not having my ereader on my person at all times in public - that includes getting up to replenish my food at buffets, even if my table is in sight.

I would treat my reader the same as my wallet and phone. Since I already have to figure out the problem of how to watch my wallet and phone while I'm in the water or wherever, the reader doesn't present any *extra* difficulty.

Question for those with dry-bag type things - doesnt it kind of defeat the purpose of the no-glare read in full sunlight e-ink screens? I mean, It looked like a great idea to me, but I was worried about 1- the plastic heating uncomfortably and 2 - the glare, which was most of the reason i went to e-ink in the first place.

My book is always in my bag. Always. So, wherever I am, that bag is and thus my reader is.

i'm paranoid about jewelry and credit cards, but not too much about the Kindle. Most hotels have security boxes so you can opt for one and leave it there. But for me is not a problem and I usually bring the Kindle with me to the pool or beach. If lost, won't be an issue for me, not too expensive to creates a really "big hole on my finances" , at least not like an iPad probably.

Expensive jewelry, watches, etc, I usually leave that at home. I don't have to worry about that and helps me when keeping a low profile.

I'm latin, so I know safety outside of USA is basically about keeping a low profile
