actually someone (volunteer/nurse) told my friend that, and then when I came out she told me that. I asked her why, and she said she was wondering the same thing... gotta figure out the next time then

Looking for a watch which is really hard since I'm allergic to most metals. I know I can handle silver and stainless steel. I found a very nice watch but it's made of titanium and I don't know how I will react to that. Before spending over €200 on a watch I want to find out. I tried finding an affordable bracelet made from titanium but the only two things made out of it seems to be watches and piercings.

So tomorrow I'm going to get a titanium barbell and see how I react to it. I assume that if my body can handle titanium going through it I can handle a watch. I'm also mailing the manufacturer asking if every metal part on the outside is made out of titanium. I once had an allergic reaction to the dial on the side of a watch which was made out of metal. It didn't even touch my skin often but my wrist got all itchy and red.

Madam Teazer, my understanding is that most watches are not in fact made from Ti, generally they are plated and this will wear off given time, exposing the base metal, usually brass or steel. I worked with a guy that had chromite poisoning, this will cause the skin to react quickly to metals, why am I mentioning that? He told me that the best watches for that condition were plastic watches, he almost always wore a swatch, but I looked and all the Swatch's I have seen have a metal back so they won't work.

Can you handle leather against your skin? If you can and don't mind the look, there are many straps that would cover the back of the watch making it easier to wear.

My 2 cents

Cheers

My skin gets irritated very quickly. I've got 2 special watches by Swatch which don't have a metal back or battery cover but I still react to it, same with plastic watches. I suspect my skin also doesn't like it when it can't "breathe". The only 2 watches I have been able to wear is a pewter watch and a G-Shock where the fabric strap continues underneath the watch and the buckle is made of plastic. But they don't make the latter any more and mine is rather bulky and inelegant.

My mother also wants a watch by the same manufacturer and I can try hers out before buying one myself. These are the watches I'm talking about. This afternoon I'm going to the shop that sells them, hoping they can tell me more.

The metal allergy thing is so annoying.
