Maybe 1.9.4 has a bunch of capability not fully implemented until they can nail some stability issues. But the new fonts & features did look nice on the side loaded KEPUB books .

and I'm sure that's the reason why the reps are saying don't do it, because while it might help in some situations, it really could do bad things . I am the type to mess around with configurations/forbidden files to see what does what; I learn best this way, and have gotten myself a pretty nice career because of it. But for the casual user, it's probably not wise to poke the bear

I am currently reading a side-loaded book that was converted with Calibre, and the .kepub.epub trick let me choose a side-loaded font but wouldn't let me choose the font size, and the default size was waaaay too small. Renaming it back to plain .epub let me pick sizes again just fine though, but only with the two built-in fonts.

Okay, I've been experimenting with adding fonts and have found the Kobo Touch to be a bit quirky regarding which fonts it displays in the font selection menu. I've posted details and pics on my blog: http://atouchofkobo.wordpress.com. Enjoy.

interesting.. What if you were to simply rename the fonts to dif names?
Ie: font 1, font 2 etc just to see if you can trick the kobo to accepting it?

Really - the kepub format is a bad decision, and using the Adobe software to download and DRM books is a medium PIA.

I'll get my ebooks from Amazon/caliber, thanks.

Interesting that you dont own the KOBO as you stated you were returning it. So why offer your two cents if you dont own the device any long?

Just curious?

How do you remove the fonts that are in the updates to be able to see the fonts that you put on. I put on 7 dark black fonts because the other ones are to light and when i open the fonts face section it only shows the ones that came with the update.

Because I've ordered a second one, based on their rapid cycle of improvements to the not-quite-ready initial software.

That might be worth a shot. In all honesty, though, with the 1.9.5 update and its added fonts and expanded text options, adding my own fonts does not seem quite as necessary as before.

On mine, the font selection menu shows more than the seven fonts provided by Kobo, so I'm not sure what's going on with yours. Did you make a directory called "fonts" and copy your fonts into it?
