I would like:

1. A way to tell -- directly -- from the book page description if a coupon is allowed on that book. I shouldn't have to add it to my cart first.

2. A way to organize my library. At the VERY least an "archive" system like B&N has, but I would prefer user-defined shelves.

3. I dislike how often the Kobo site logs me out. I've got "remember me" ticked but EVERY time I go to the site, I have to re-login.

4. I LOVE the Amazon "poke the publisher" option. B&N recently removed it from their website, boo. Kobo should add it -- AND the automatic "add me to a mailing list and notify me when it comes available" option. Why Amazon doesn't do this, I'll never know.

FWIW: If a book has two prices, not just one, coupons will work with the books. The single price books are Agency priced. I am not sure about Smashwords books, which show one price. Maybe someone else can report on these.

i've used coupons on smashword books that are available through kobobooks.
the donovan creed novels to be exact - they were set at $0.99 and i used the $1 off coupon when it was available to grab the series.

when loaded onto the kobo they all say smashwords edition on one of the first few pages, not sure if that's what you were asking.

Hey Siraks,

After we talked and I got the entire John Locke (Donavon Creed) series for free using the $1 off coupon, I couldn't stop reading them. I read the whole series to the end and still want more. I eagerly await his next edition.

In addition to the "Remember Me" and other things already mentioned, I would like soon-to-be released ebooks to show up in the search and let me pre-order or send me an email on the release date.

I think the biggest advantage with this is to to able to convert 4 x $X to USD instead of converting $X 4 times (if it is correct that there is some flat rate fee when converting currency, or at least it is cheaper to convert more at a time).

portablejim are you paying in US$??? I have used kobobooks.com for over a year and have yet to pay for anything in US$. I've never even seen a US$ price. It's all in AUD$ for me. I would certainly know about it because my kobo credit card is the one I NEVER use for overseas purchases as it has ridiculous fees.

Having said all that I would really love a shopping cart as it drives me crazy having to purchase each book individually.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE let us buy more than one book at once. Incredibly it may even increase sales!

Silly me . It is in fact AUD. I just assumed since it was USD (or something else) saw some International transaction fees and did not look carefully to see that they were only for by dealings with Amazon and Borders.

Well, it may surprise you to hear that I'll never visit the Kobo web site again, after downloading the Mac Kobo reader in order to sync the device the first time.

IMHO, Amazon's store is much superior, and I do not intend to allow Kobo to lock me into their ecosystem.

What I would suggest is that you winnow out those books available from Kobo, but not from Amazon or B&N, and offer them as a separate search filter. As an example, Kobo seems to have most or all of the Robert Heinlein novels, many of which are not available from US vendors.

Another idea....I know the published date reflects the date of the epub version - but it would really be nice to also have the first published date. It can be hard to remember what I've read, and when I see a date of "May 2011", I immediately think it must be a new book!

This actually works now. I am still "logged in" after completely closing my browser multiple times. And the next day. Bravo! And thank you.

Fix the online B&N purchasing pages where you must enter telephone number as a ten-digit string, rather than using punctuation like the humans do.

This causes endless errors, and is simply sloppy, lazy programming that makes Kobo look like a bunch of Internet amateurs. It does not take a lot of programming to remove dashes, parens, and periods from a string...
