Financial Times confirms new SONY reader
FT on June 23, 2011:
"Developers have not disclosed how much the books will cost. But the FT has established that Sony, a joint venture partner in the site, is developing related products, including a themed version of its Sony reader" http://www.ft.com/intl/cms/s/0/8c9fb...#axzz1QLRFmfsO Edit: Since people can't read the article, I should spell out the obvious - it's about Harry Potter being available in ebooks. It specifies that SONY will be providing the backbone, that the books will be available EXCLUSIVELY on Pottermore but that they will be compatible "with a range of e-reader devices including Amazon’s Kindle, Apple’s iPad, and Sony’s reader". I knew it!! It wasn't too much of a stretch to think they would seeing as they made a Harry iPod when the audiobooks were first released. *happy dance*
But nobody can read the article unless they sign up for the Times btw. Thanks for posting the quote though. |

You can read the article by typing into Google "financial times sony reader harry potter'. Leave out the quotes. It should be the first article for the result.

Whooppeee!!!!!!!!
I no longer feel compelled to buy extra's of the 350 and 950 to have when my current readers die. I know I will have to buy a new HP model to give to my grandson. (he's only one month old so I'll just keep it for him for a couple of years.) |

I agree that the public demands six inch models most. Notice, however, that my reader doesn't inlude a 650????
I have a gap that must be filled. |

If the price is not too much, maybe I'll get one as well and save my 650 as a backup. Who knows? But in any case, I see a big win for Sony. I see people looking to upgrade or get a new reader for the kids going Sony. Even if there are Mobipocket versions for the Kindle, the ePub could blow them away. Just imagine the reviews stating that the ePub look really nice with all the different fonts and how much closer to the pBook they really are and how dull and drab the Kindle versions look. What a coup for Sony and ePub this could be if done right. People will finally be able to see how obsolete Mobipocket is (I hope). Unless Amazon goes ePub and gets a K4 out bu then. It would have to also be touch screen and maybe drop the physical keyboard. |

Writing that post made that post the #1 result. Ok, the article should be on the first page. (I didn't want to say the 2nd link because this post might make it the #2 result.) |
