this is a very complex recipe (according to the books, with ar least 3 distinct passages).
my version: I cut them in rounds, steam them, fry them in clarified bitter, add cream and reduce it, a handful of Parmesan.


The rest speaks for itself, fresh dill is just delicious. Sauvignon of the house. Joy of the participants

Ohhh YUM! Okay, so that's not very articulate, but that was my first response. It sounds absolutely divine, Beppe. Especially the creamed leeks, and thank you very much for providing that recipe, I've never tried them...but now may have to.

I had enchiladas verdes de pollo (green chicken enchiladas) for lunch at our one good Mexican restaurant. Mexican food stinks north of Texas, normally (at least in my opinion) but we have one good Mexican place here that just shines, even compared to my beloved Texas style Tex-Mex. The owner is a goddess of salsas, and her verde sauce is a velvety spicy blend of tomatillos and I don't know what all else but it's GOOD.

Help Wanted

Today it wasn't "Whats on your plate", but what was in my glass.

My wife and I were having dinner in one of her favorite restaurants when I felt a small bit of detritus in my mouth after sipping my coffee. What it was, I have no clue, but I'm almost certain that it wasn't food, and I know it had nothing to do with the coffee nor it's cup.


When alone, and depending on how egregious it is, I'll tell the waiter/waitress to take the meal away and/or ask to see the restaurants manager.


What do others do? Make a fuss, or keep quiet and let the others enjoy their meal?

Unless it's something horrifying I just keep quiet about it for that exact reason. It spoils everybody else's meal and I hate it when someone does that to me. If I feel like it needs to be brought to a manager's attention I do it discreetly after the meal.

Life is nice because it is different. The tenuous light of candles makes the girl more beautiful, while the sparkling notes of a swing band invite to dance between courses...

So a bit of live show could be entertaining ...

It never happened to me yet, but I would really like to make a great, lengthy, chairs dropping on the floor scene, with wife and children in tears, people applauding, the works. Starting with addressing the waiter, across the hall, with a carrying voice:

Hey, you, waiter. Quick. Come and see what is crawling out of the salad.

SoS - surely you checked what it was...........toenail, finger tip, hair (curly or straight),animal, vegetable or mineral?

But I do agree, that if it was something inocuous and didn't spoil the enjoyment of the meal then I can see no point in making a fuss, but discretely take the maitre de aside and have a quiet word.

To be honest after what a colleague ordered me in Japan, and didn't tell me what it was until halfway through nomming it, I trust very little that goes in my mouth uninspected now!

(It was milt or fish sperm tempura)

It was very small and a mixture of red and white. Plastic?

I just casually removed it with my napkin. A quick glance. Not desirable, but nothing to raise a fuss about.

Certainly not like the time I found a cigarette butt in a glass of coke at one of my favorite restaurants.

Bought it all (and a lot more) at the farmer's market this morning with my honeyl Yum, yum, yum! Tonight: green beans. more tomatoes, and tenderloin steaks on the grill. Blackberries for dessert.

ohhhh! did you do the kale drizzled with olive oil and sea salt at 400 or so? sooooyummy! haven't done that for awhile!
