Where to buy a Sony Reader at the moment?

My daughter had a literati reader for 4 months and now the reader died today. Just today . In 3 days she flights in the USA and I will buy/order her a Sony Reader. I think a Sony Reader PRS-650 or a Sony Reader PRS-950. But where to buy? Which shops has these readers or the best prices? Who can help us? THANKS! |

You'd have to be more specific as to where in the US she's going. I think your best bet for the 650 is a Sony store but both models you're looking for are pretty scarce at the moment.

As both models are hard to find right now, if you need a reader, you may be forced to look at an alternative brand. Seems like Sony may be releasing a new model soon.

The only sony reader currently available retail in the usa is the prs 350. They are still at most bestbuys at clearance prices. Borders may have some random sonys at some locations. Sonystyle online have refurbished 950's in stock, and that is about it, unless you go to ebay and pay dearly. |

If I had to buy right now, I would look at the new kobo touch and new nook touch.

I think your best bets are to try best buy and borders, as mentioned above. If you can't find the readers at those stores, try the Sony store, but you will likely pay a higher price. They sell the Sony reader at Walmart in Canada, but I'm not sure if they sell them in the U.S. at Walmart. Target seems to have the Sony PRS-350, too.

I haven't seen the Sony at Walmart in the States in a while. Target sells them only online. No Sony Readers have been in Target stores since last year.

My local Best Buy (Norman, OK) has both 350s and 950s in store, at discounted prices (not sure about the exact prices, sorry).

The ne Nook would be a great alternative to a Sony!

The 350 is $199.00 at Walmart in Canada. Yikes! Good old healthy competition is alive and well in Canada, NOT. You'll be lucky to find a 650 anywhere. Maybe they are still dripping into Sony stores. Try calling around and reserving one. Personally I think I'd wait till autumn to see if Sony releases a new range. Either that, or buy a Nook. But if you are outside the USA you will have to side-load (judging from a previous poster's comment). The Nook does look nice if you are a techy Canadian. It's even Android compatible! |

You should be able to pick up a cheap PRS 950 from Borders, last I checked the direct link somewhere on this forum still works.

I bought a NEW PRS-350 at my local BestBuy for $120 about a week ago. I just checked, BestBuy still has them online for the same price. $199.99 http://www.bestbuy.com/ |
