Wow! That's great! The next step is renting 'famous' clothes! Movie star stuff right out of the Casting wardrobe office! I'd like to rent Errol Flynn's 'Robin Hood' outfit. I think I'd look good in Lincoln Green with a feather in my hat!

This is so ubiquitous here that I don't think I've mentioned it...

Do any of you keep charcoal in your water kettles? It's standard practice in Japan to put a couple of sticks of charcoal inside the electric water heaters and in the rice cookers. You can purchase packets with 3-4 sticks, each about 2cmX10cm (1"x4") in 100Yen shops, convenience stores, supermarkets, etc.

Having another mug of Yorkshire tea this afternoon. It was soooo good this morning I decided a reprise was in order.

No need to rent here. That Miyake shawl (it is actually a shawl, not a dress, called Madame T.) can be worn in at least 8 different ways. I comes with its own little manual. So it qualifies as a gadget buy, doesn't it?

Poor soul! Try those gel pads. You can put them inside the shoe, they are invisible and very helpful. Have some in all of my dance shoes (Salsa, but I suck at it )

This is unfair. My photo is really me. From last summer when I had to make photos for a new passport.

In my cup: Strong Assam to wake up and plain yoghurt with the rest of the strawberries (at least 1 pound )

I feel your pain ... Last week I wore heels every working day. On friday, the little toe on my right foot had gone completely numb. It still is a little

Now why would you do that I've never heard of anyone sticking anything but water in their water kettle.

In my cup: double cappuccino. I'm super nervous for my presentation this afternoon

Coke Zero #1.

But that's the last update from me for a while. I'm spending far too much time here on Mobileread, and I need to take a break for a while.

I'll be back in September, or when I actually finish all the work I should have been doing instead of reading and posting on Mobileread, whichever comes soonest.

I meant the longest evening of daylight before the sun goes down. We tend to talk of "long summer evenings here".

Not a common practice in the UK. It is to do with water purification?

Rooibos cup #1 gone. Coffee being prepared...

Because charcoal has the ability to absorb impurities and odors from liquids. All those water filters that you see being sold to attach to the kitchen sink tap use charcoal inside their refill cartridges! I think "Brita" filters are sold in Belgium, right?
Amazon.com sells 111 different ones (when you search 'charcoal water filters for coffee makers') Hospital Emergency Rooms administer charcoal orally when someone is brought in who has taken too many pills or is in the first stages of food poisoning. Doing a Google search of 'charcoal water filters' brings up 2,800,000 hits.

It works. Especially good in areas that use a lot of chlorine in the water, or have a high sulfur level. It really does make the water taste better.
