We call them thongs in OZ. But foreigners always snicker like it is a cheeky word!

also a musical instrument

I always knew them as 'thongs' and that was how they were sold until the underwear of the same name took hold. (no pun intended.) In fact, I never heard them referred to as slippahs until I moved to Asia and went to buy a pair in S'pore.

Yeah I can tell the difference too, when I was growing up they were always, always called thongs too (In Texas). But after the underwear thing took hold, as Stitchawl says, if you called them thongs you started getting laughed at, so I got in the habit of calling them flip flops.

I don't think I have ever heard of them being called thongs - always flip-flops.

I've heard them called thongs up North where I grew up (Pennsylvania).

Rant: Why oh WHY does my iPod Classic go into letter-scroll mode right before I get to the one I want, causing me to shoot right past it. I must be the only iPod owner in the world who hasn't mastered scrolling with the click wheel. Grrrrr!

Don't have an iPod, but I've got a related rant. HOW did I manage to get so many duplicate songs on this phone!! Drives me crazy to put it on "songs" and get two in a row of the same thing.

I don't know anything about Droids so I have no idea. I have a similar problem but for a different reason - box set compilations that partially duplicate albums I've already got. My inner organizational fiend is tormented, trying to decide between not having duplicates or ending up with incomplete albums.

Oh, wish I hadn't started thinking about that. It's gonna bug me now. Oh well, that's a problem for next week. I don't need any problems right now. This is going to be a happy week dammit!

Oh, sorry, got a little carried away.

Oh yes. You know, OCD stands for organizing crazy demon. At least that's how it manifests in my case.

iTunes is to blame for a lot of your duplication with songs too... Damn program!

The other day I was ranting about downloading and paying for some new software? That software was to replace using iTunes to manage my phone's music, photos, and videos. iTunes was making me nuts with all the duplication. Using any of the third-party software allows me to arrange all the songs any way I want so I can see instantly any dupes and remove them easily. Avoiding iTunes has made my life a LOT easier!

If you're a Windoze user, it's as easy as using the usual computer file manager to do everything with your phone files.

I hope not. I have about 20 pair.

What if they are made of leather? One of the things I noticed in S. FL is that people that live here usually wear decently made flip flops, while tourists are more likely to wear drug store flip flops, but when I was in HI I noticed a lot of people wearing drug store flip flops by a brand called "Locals" and I think most of them really were locals.

I can't figure that out either. Fortunately, I mostly use Pandora, so it's not that big of an issue.

Don't you just love it when you go shopping at BJ's with the intention of buying enough meat, chicken and milk to last 2 weeks, only to come home and after you've put everything away, realize a few hours later that your ice trays have melted and the fridge and freezer aren't getting cold?!!
