				Which E-reader is heaviest?

I mean out of the big four: Kindle 3, Nook Touch, Kobo Touch and Sony 650.

Which do you think is the heaviest and lightest? I checked it out on the mobileread wikis. Here it is. You might be surprised. In descending order: Kindle: Weight 8.5 oz. (241 grams) Sony: Weight: 7.58 oz (215 grams) Nook Touch:Weight: 7.48 ounces (212g) Kobo Touch: Weight: 200g According to this, the Kindle is the heaviest of the lot! I'm very surprised. I assumed the Sony 650 would be heavier because it's made of metal. Hard to believe the plastic Kindle is heavier than the metal Sony. Maybe these figures are wrong? In fairness, you should use the Kindle wifi weight of 8.5 ounces. Even if you don't, I don't think any of the others offer dual wireless (wifi & 3G) like the Kindle's weight you are using.

I knew the Kindle was the heaviest, it always has been compared to Sony. I was surprised that the Kindle 3 was still so heavy next to the Sonys. However, I was surprised at how light the Sony 650 is. I barely feel like I'm holding anything, so take the touch screen design, change the metal to plastic, and it looks like a few grams drop off.

I guess it must be the touch screen vs the keyboard. Amazon is so going to lose that keyboard. |

40g between the lightest and heaviest is hardly terribly significant. And they are ALL lighter than a typical paperback book

.If you have your reader in a case (which you definitely should do), the case will generally be heavier than the reader. |

Across screen sizes, as expected, the weight increases with larger screens, almost by a difference of 5x if you allow an iPad as an ereader. See Ereader Weight vs Screen Size. |

Those weights agree with what I've found. All are easy to find at manufacturers' sites. However, I challenge anyone to try to find the exact weight of a Cruz R101. Last I tried (a few months ago), it was nowhere to be found on the web, and even direct exchanges with the manufacturer yield nothing better than "it weighs in at roughly 1 pound."

I also weighed my Sony 650 w/ Sony case and was surprised that the reader w/ case came in just over 10 oz. No wonder it feels like a feather. Quote:

I came from an old nook, 12 oz., with an Oberon case at 10oz. After that, the Kindle 3 is a feather. I agree that the differences with the current models are close to insignificant.

The weight differences between all of the e-ink readers are negligible. The size differences might matter to some people (I prefer a 5" reader), but the weight is so much less than a paperback that it doesn't matter. |

IMO they're all too light. I like the heft of my reader in its leather cover.
