^ It is a surprise though, especially first round! Go Fed! Slow start in first set against a new player who has been pretty hot of late, but he served brilliantly throughout and took the tiebreak. I look for Fed to settle in now and cruise in a routine 3 against his young opponent. And Wozniacki is up as well |

So, Fed played his way through mediocre first set and then cruised. My girl Sharapova is safely through first round. And the Joker looked very clean. Fairly true to form after 2 days |

I have never liked Serena. While I am glad she has recovered from a long string of very unpleasant injuries, I did not miss her presence in the tennis world while she was gone.

I realized how much I missed her (and Venus) when I noticed that I hadn't watched a match in almost as long as she was out. I didn't even watch Andy's (Murray) matches. I just didn't care about tennis for that time. Like I said earlier, she was my introduction to tennis. I admire her determination, strength, and athleticism. I admire Venus' strength, athleticism, and grace. Amidst their ups and downs, their mistakes, and the way others have chosen to treat them, they've done what they needed to do - not only to get where they are, but to plan for their (none tennis related) futures. No one can take that away from them. As far as their dominance in the sport, its there for a reason. All of the ladies in the field had their opportunities to shine, and apparently (if I am to believe the commentators) no one chose to take it. It is not their responsibility to show how or to allow others to take their place. | |

I put up the picture to support a player from my adopted country, not because she's a blond doll...it just happened that the only picture I could find of her was of her in a bikini. And that's the real, real truth.
