A lot of the paperback fiction books I buy are about a buck, with shipping anywhere from $5 to $10. On the other hand, a Ukrainian cookbook I was looking for was nearly $100 + shipping.

So stay away from rare books...

My sister's going on holiday to Mallorca for two weeks next Sunday. When I travel I always keep a travel journal and the last time we went on holiday together she liked the idea. I thought I would buy one for her trip.

Because I'm lazy I ordered the Moleskine one online, according to the website when you order before 1030pm you would get it the next day. Today I got an email telling me my order was delayed, so I emailed when the expected it (being a gift for someone leaving on Sunday). I got a reply telling me I would get it "before the 21st". So I cancelled the order. My rant isn't that it is out of stock, that can happen, but that the website still has the "order before..." listed for this product. I just checked, from the last 5 orders I placed there 3 were delayed. I'm glad I now read ebooks and I'm not dependable on them to get my books any more!

Tomorrow I'll go to the travel book and map store, they probably have travel diaries in stock.

We finally downloaded the season, and have finished four episodes already. I like this season much better than last season. I hope Amy is pregnant. Don't tell me!!!

Quote:
This transaction has been declined. #2
and then, asked me to go back to make "appropriate corrections" and I didn't even know what was wrong, but went back anyway, and they said:

I just went through this trying to order some software. I finally got so fed up, I did a web search, found another company offering just about the same program for the same price, and put my order through 1,2,3!

Then I wrote a letter to customer support at the first company (the one that kept telling me that none of my three billing cities existed...) to cancel any order than may have gone through, explaining why I needed to cancel, and that I bought another program from a different company.

THEN I received an e-mail from that customer support, human answered, not a auto-reply, saying 'We like to solve our customer problems and we don't understand your problem." I wrote back "Did you see the first line that said CANCEL the order? And did you see where I said that I bought a different program already from another company?" They wrote back, quickly too, that yes, they saw it but they really wanted to help me fix the problem.

I wrote back. "Good. Fix the problem by canceling any order of mine that may have gone through." They wrote back saying they would do so. The next day I received order confirmation, serial number for the software and a note saying 'we thank you for your order...'

Have I been away from English too long? Could I have said to cancel the order in any more clear fashion?

Oh how many times that has happened... Well, I haven't left English and I seem to get the same customer service reps.

I've been hearing more details as the day has gone on. it sounds like this is a complete breakdown of medical care. so devastating. I'm getting ready to go home and make a massive pot of clam chowder to take to them
