I use a Visa checking card tied to my bank checking account. So I doubt the offer is tied to a particular card type like Discover, Visa, American Express.

Ok, did anyone that received this offer get their Kindle more than three weeks ago?

Perhaps it is tied to a "father's day gift" flag.

I had this one (I had BOTH!). But, broke the ads and had to do a full RESET to get them working again. Now, I have only the Visa ad (and still no tools), but at least the video games ad did reload. Also see the backpacking offer and the GPS offer (and the $20-4-$10 current offer).

Net effect of the RESET (not a restart): I lost an offer completely. I also have a lot more directories than before - all populated with variations on the same tired Buick, OoO (including one w/ Ellen DeGeneres) and Visa ads (and Endless/Gucci + a plug for Amazon's editors).

I'll leave it with WiFi on a while and see if that missing ad gets re-sent or if it is lost forever. Bummer if it is, it was definitely one I wanted.

Edit to add: I lost two ads. The Skins ad was definitely on there before, too. Also now missing.

You might be on to something here. I've had mine since it was released nearly 2 months ago and no tool offer.

Everyone who commented on my blog, that received the tool offer, got their Kindle in the last couple of weeks (and some who have had it about 2 months or longer, did not get the offer). So, a new dad gift only!

My account is tied to the Amazon store card, but was Visa before that.

I'm female also and have had my Kindle for less than a week. I do believe the tool offer was meant to be tied to Father's Day and if your Kindle was purchased in the time frame when people were purchasing Father's Day gifts then you got the tool offer. This could be a sign of things to come. I got the tool offer on Saturday and was very pleasantly surprised when the gift card offer showed up on Sunday. I jumped on that offer right away!

Still don't know why the gift card offer didn't arrive until Sunday for me. In looking in my .assets folder the upcoming offers for Kindle skins, camping gear, spend $10 on books and get $10 gc, tools and portable GPS were all sent to my folder on the 16th. The upcoming offers for buying books with your Visa and $10 off Video games arrived in my folder on the 18th. The only offer that arrived on the 19th was the $10 for $20 gift card offer.

That's not good. Want that 4th of July offer? buy a new Kindle. Want to get the Labor Day deal? buy a new Kindle.

I got the gift card offer on Saturday and bought it on Sunday. Then I got it AGAIN today! I checked, and unfortunately the code is the same, so I can't get two, as much as I was hoping that was the case, but it seemed odd that it came to me again even though I'd already taken advantage of it.

Nope, nothing that obvious. I got my Kindle well before Father's Day and I also got the tool offer.

There are only four (or possibly five) screensavers on the Kindle. They don't disappear after you use them, they just rotate around and so every fourth time your Kindle goes to sleep you'll see the gift card offer again. You can also go into the menu and choose to "View Special Offers" to look at descriptions for all of them and choose one for more information about.
