Severe thunderstorm tonight. We arrived home from choir practice to find half the kitchen floor covered with water. After trying to find the leak in the ceiling for a minute, I realized that water was hitting my hand from the side. Our older dog, trying to get behind the refrigerator to hide from the thunder, bit through the hose on the back that feed the ice maker and water dispenser. He also ripped up another door frame. He's so lucky we love him.

Consider yourselves lucky that your ice maker is 'self-filling.' We can only get 'made for Asia' fridges here, and those have a reservoir that one needs to refill by hand. (In case one lives in an area where you must use only bottled water.)

[vr - a map of NC would show similar drought patterns as in Texas - many counties have now entered severe/profound drought status]

The drought is indeed bad over much of the southern U.S.

In the meantime, one of our daughters is living in Hamburg, Iowa this summer:
