Keyboard entry when no keyboard is displaying

I am on a chess site looking at a chessboard. I need to input the letter F but I don't have a keyboard displaying. This would flip the chessboard so I could see it from a different point of view. Is there a way to do this? If I am using my Nokia N900 and looking at the same chessboard, hitting the letter f on my physical keyboard flips the display.

On the EE, if you hold down the menu button, you can force the onscreen keyboard to appear / disappear. I'm assuming it's the same on the PE.

Thanks. I am in the browser xscope6. When I hold down the menu button I get a bunch of options such as save page. I will try other browsers.

Then try different buttons on that side. I could be misremembering the button, Sorry. But for sure one of them brings up the keyboard, and probably should even in an alternate browser. I thought it was menu.

(And I'm sure you understood, but just to be clear, I meant a long press.)

Aha! Holding down the menu button works in the Dolphin mini browser! Thanks again!

Good, so I'm not crazy!

Strange that it wouldn't work in your first browser, though. I think it even works when you're not running any app. I thought it was supposed to be the universal shortcut to always get to the keyboard. I guess it *mostly* works.
