What do you think? It makes no sense to hire unless you intend to stay in the market.

Talk about a risky position!

Businesses must maintain a functional staff until they actually do fail. That means replacing some people who leave, for example. We can't read much into that job opening (lol, a pun).

Interesting. Typically a major corporation won't hire externally - especially if relocation is authorized - unless they have a justification. They'd prefer to just heap more hours on the existing employees. So maybe they do have a need in that division or else assume that they can easily reallocate resources to another product if they did stop the ereader development.

Reading into hiring practices is valid. A lot of tech blogs have tried to read the tea leaves of Amazon or Apple or Android by seeing what the job openings are. So this is a positive sign.

One certain sign that the Sony ereader business would be gone is if there are news that the president of the E-book division, in this case Steve Haber, has resigned or is fired. No news of that.

Looks like a book store venture more than a reader venture, though.

It is valid when we're talking about a series of openings. Never about a single position. Unless it reads like Steve Jobs' old job position. Then I'll admit they're thinking big.

Bit funny we're so starved for good news that we'll jump on a single hire.

But I am not picky, I'll take it!

Please hire more people Sony
