'Konnichiwa' is one of the seven words I know in Japanese, which is pathetic since I have been coming and going to a lovely rural village here in Japan for the last three years. Anyway, it means 'hello' and I might actually know twenty or thirty words in Japanese but certainly not enough to order food in a restaurant without insulting the waiter and having a gang of local warlords drag me into the street and beat me to death.
Was that funny? Probably not. But you get the idea.
Actually, I really didn't mean that, because the Japanese people at least where I live are among the kindest, most dignified and non-violent people I have ever encountered. Please don't bring up World War II or the Rape of Nanking. They are way beyond all that and deeply regret it, based on everything people tell me. Of course, they are speaking Japanese, so they might be saying "Go home you ugly American scumbag, we've had enough of you and your atomic bombs." But I don't think so. They seem to really like me. For a while I had the nickname, 'the Naked American', before I stopped riding my mountain bike around town without my shirt on. The Japanese are very modest people. There are no strip clubs in Osaka.
Anyway, the drugs are starting to wear off and I have to cook dinner for my beautiful Japanese girlfriend, so I will sign off. And anyway, I think I have said enough to pretty much guarantee that no one in their right mind will want to join in this thread which leads to the demented depths of insanity, or think about visiting my personal web and blog site . . . http://jdrachel.com . . . unless of course they wish to spam me with all sorts of deals on pirated software or access codes to porn sites and S&M chat rooms.
For now . . . ja mataa . . . which I think means good-bye but it might mean your grandmother is drowning in soy sauce.

Good to have your company, John. Hope your adopted village wasn't badly affected by recent events. Happy kindling and best wishes. Neil
