New International Releases From Carolyn Crane: MIND GAMES and DOUBLE CROSS

Untreed Reads is pleased to announce that we've obtained the international publishing rights to Carolyn Crane's first two titles in her bestselling series The Disillusionists Trilogy. The series is available in print and US/Canada ebook distribution from Random House.

About Mind Games (Book 1):

Justine Jones has a secret. A hardcore hypochondriac, she's convinced a blood vessel is about to burst in her brain. Then, out of the blue, a startlingly handsome man named Packard peers into Justine's soul and invites her to join his private crime-fighting team. It's a once-in-a-lifetime deal. With a little of Packard's hands-on training, Justine can weaponize her neurosis, turning it outward on Midcity's worst criminals, and finally get the freedom from fear she's always craved. End of problem.

Or is it? In Midcity, a dashing police chief is fighting a unique breed of outlaw with more than human powers. And while Justine's first missions, including one against a nymphomaniac husband-killer, are thrilling successes, there is more to Packard than meets the eye. Soon, while battling her attraction to two very different men, Justine is plunging deeper into a world of wizardry, eroticism, and cosmic secrets. With Packard's help, Justine has freed herself from her madness-only to discover a reality more frightening than anyone's worst fears.

About Double Cross (Book 2):

Justine Jones lived her life as a fearful hypochondriac until she was lured into the web of a mysterious mastermind named Packard, who gifts her with extraordinary mental powers-dooming her to fight Midcity's shadowy war on paranormal crime in order to find the peace she so desperately craves.

But now serial killers with unheard-of skills are terrorizing the most powerful beings in Midcity, including mastermind Packard and his oldest friend and worst enemy, Midcity's new mayor, who has the ability to bend matter itself to his will.

As the body count grows, Justine faces a crisis of conscience as she tests the limits of her new powers and faces an impossible choice between two flawed but brilliant men-one on a journey of redemption, the other descending into a pit of moral depravity.

How to Purchase Mind Games and Double Cross:

Both titles are available for $4.99 each in The Untreed Reads Store (http://store.untreedreads.com/). You'll also find them at Amazon UK, Amazon Germany and virtually all ebook retailers outside of the US and Canada.

Sounds interesting though I imagine reviews might be uneven depending on if a person has the need for a particular ebook (for example if they don't smoke they probably won't find a ebook on stopping personally useful). That said I'd be interested in looking at them. Kindle is the most convenient format for me as looking at a computer screen for too long gives me eye strain and I've found that PDF's don't always read well on Kindle for some reason.

Since it's a shameless self-promotion, I'll repeat myself once again, but this time add more strange new facts. Except from the fact that my science fiction/fantasy novel "Forge of Stones" is available for free from Smashwords.com (http://www.smashwords.com/books/view/50974, coupon code HH32Y - I updated the relevant post - offer ends July 1st), the book is also available from Amazon US,UK and DE. If you do get it and read it, a simple like or even better a review would be much appreciated.

Thank you in advance. I hope you download and enjoy my novel.

Shamelessly plugging my wares...

"The Camel Trail" by Peter J. Merrigan: Amazon.com | Amazon.co.uk

I've now got two fantastic reviews on the UK Amazon site - one of which, I'll admit, is a friend (bless her little illiterate heart), but the other (the 4-star review) is from God-knows who. I will have his or her babies if I track them down! lol.

The novel is general fiction / thriller ("but with more depth" according to the reviewer!). I'm happy to give you guys a free review copy if you're interested. Click the Amazon links above to see the book's blurb

Although it's shame-less self-promotion, but over promotion can often hurt rather than helping, IMO.

I understand that people have to know that your books exist. But they don't want to be bombarded all the time.

THE HARBINGER OF DOOM SAGA

The Harbinger of Doom saga centers around one Lord Angle Theta, an enigmatic warrior of unknown origins and mystical power. No mortal man is his match in battle. No sorcery can contain or confound him. No scholar or sage can outwit him. But for all his skills, he is but one of us; a man, a human, who shares our faults, our dreams, and our ambitions. He boldly strides across the land, fearless, peerless, and cloaked in mystery; all his will bent on righting such wrongs as he deems fit.

Until the day the Gateway opened and turned the world on its head. On that fateful day, Korrgonn came and washed away our dreams. And his outre' realms of chaos set their unholy mark upon our world and claimed it for their own.

Only Theta and his companions see the enemies aligning against us. Only they foresee our end coming -- the end of civilization, the end of the world of man. Only they can hope to turn the tide of madness and preserve all that we hold dear.

But no man, not even our greatest hero, can stand against the Lords of Chaos and the dark armies of Nifleheim at their command. Fiends that infiltrate unseen within our ranks, that tear down our temples and our traditions; that devour us from within, unseen, unknown, unheralded, and unopposed until the hour grows far too late.

Through the murk and mist that hangs before our eyes, one man only sees true. One man pierces the veil of magic that blinds us all and marks the world as it truly is, revealing secrets, secrets of Angle Theta, so horrifying as to shatter a man's mind and call into question the very nature of good and evil.
Join us now on our journey back to the days of high adventure.

Dogs of War: A Ghost Story

“Some crimes are too terrible to go unpunished, no matter the cost”

A brutal, heart-wrenching tale of love, sacrifice and revenge

Dogs of War has earned several good reviews (2 five star and 1 four star) at the book’s Amazon page, which you can read if you click over that way. But the story has received good reviews from all around the web:

Quote:
“A really original take on the ghost story. The dogs (esp. Molly) were fantastic characters in their own right, which went well with the theme of the narrator being along for the ride, there to assist sometimes but not truly interfere as the dogs complete their mission” - Stephanie Rabig, Smashwords
Quote:
“Bradley Convissar's book Dogs of war is brilliant! The writing is breathtakingly precise and painful. A ghost story way up on the line with my personal favorite Stephen King books: Cujo and the Pet Sematary.” – Natalie Valentina, Goodreads
Quote:
“I found myself comparing him to Stephen King, mainly because I have a hard time getting into his books, but once I do I am hooked. And it was this way with Dogs of War. I felt there was a lot of detail in the house that wasn’t necessary, honestly I didn’t need to know the colors of the sheet and bedding, but the tale of Molly and the ghosts that haunted her was riveting. I felt the horror that Gary felt when he allowed Molly out on the second ghostly visit and he witnessed her interaction with them. I was horrified when he made a ghastly discovery in the basement and understood Molly’s and the ghosts need for vengeance. It all led up to an ending that did have me hooked, unable to put my kindle down until the conclusion.” -Lisa McCourt Hollar, Jezri’s Nightmares (if you choose to read the full review, the error mentioned has been fixed)

If you are a fan a ghost stories and are looking for something a little different, pick up Dog’s of War.

If you’ve ever looked into your dog’s face and seen something human in their eyes, pick up Dog’s of War.

If the whole Michael Vick saga made you ill, made you feel like justice was not served, pick up Dog’s of War.

If you’re looking for good, old fashioned psychological horror free of zombies, viruses and vampires, pick up Dogs of War.

Only $.99

Haven't been here in AGES. Just stopping by to tell you that my novella, The Death Trip is once again FREE on Smashwords. It's still 99 cents for now on Amazon, but I hope they'll change it soon.

It's a quick read, medical-techno-thriller that I hope reminds people a little more of Philip K. Dick than Michael Crichton, although either comparison is probably a stretch!

Meantime, my full-length novel, Loisaida -- A New York Story continues to be on sale at Amazon for 99 cents/71 pence. I raised the price back to $2.99, but Amazon kept it low. It's $2.99 on Smashwords.

Loisaida has gotten some great reviews in the past few weeks including at Big Al's Books and Pals.. It's a gritty story inspired by true events, set over twenty years ago in New York's Lower East Side/East Village, which is now one of the City's hottest and most upscale neighborhoods, but back then was flooded with drugs and real estate speculation. The mix proved fatal at times.

Hi, Everyone.

My short story, "Tuesday", is now available on Amazon and Smashwords.
