I've only tasted Krispy Kreme donuts once, while on a trip to Pussan last year. After two of them, I felt the need for a massive insulin shot! I think there was more sugar in/on those two donuts than in all of Hershey, PA!

Oh yes, they are quite popular here in TN, so I know what you mean. I'm used to eating sweet things, but after a couple of those I was ready to swear that they put speed in them. I was on a Krispy Kreme high.

How can that be, that you've only tasted them once? I know they've been around all of my life, and surely you've been in and out of the South a few times in the past 50-odd years, right?

True, but never in bigger cities and towns. My trips to the South were motorcycle rides, always on back roads, and usually avoiding larger cities and towns, and perhaps only 3-4 times between 1972-1990. It's possible that I did see them, but having no idea that they were something 'special' I probably paid no attention. "Just another doughnut shop." I spent some time in Atlanta, a week in New Orleans, and a couple of weeks in Asheville, NC, but as I said, not knowing the name, I never noticed them.

I lived most of my US life in northern New England, and there were no Krispy Kreme outlets of any kind. Looking at Wiki, I see "Krispy Kreme began another phase of rapid expansion in the 1990s, opening stores outside the southeastern United States where most of their stores were located." I left the US at the end of 1990, and since then, have only been back a couple of times, usually for less than a week each time.

I only knew about Krispy Kreme from people in Internet Chats talking about them, and that was after I moved to Japan. When I saw the one in a shopping Mall in Pussan I had to try it. I understand that one opened last year in Tokyo but I doubt I'll ride 12 hours just for a doughnut. I have a feeling I would really love them if I could get them in an un-glazed version.

No Rain! No Clouds! It's sunny 65F and the next 10 day forecast is for temps in the 80'sF with no precipitation expected.

Time to repack my winter clothes (which I had to take out after I had just put them away earlier this year) .

I'll be among the hot, hotter, scorching group pretty soon.

Note: Poohbear lives close. The chicken's weather is usually our weather.

Hot. Very hot. I was out in the back yard a few minutes ago softening some PVC for bending with a heat gun. I was wondering if the gun was even necessary.

Lovely weather. Then again, my co-workers think Mr. Freeze has nothing on me.

Any daytime max. of less than 20C is a cold winter day on the Sunshine Coast. Today the max. forecast is 17C and my local weather station is saying that as at 11am it was 13.3C. Bitter. Personally, I'm snuggled up to my doona in bed, but that's less about cold and more about lack of motivation.

Cheers,
Marc

I used to set our thermostat on 20° until the guilt over wasting energy set in. Well, actually 68° F, which is the same thing. I still set it there in the winter.

Not too hot yet at about 7:30 a.m. -- 73 F -- but the humidity is 76%. It was a very sweaty walk this morning, even before sunrise. Supposed to be in the 90's again today. I'm pretty tired of this weather pattern. We need some rain to break it up. We haven't even had afternoon thundershowers in weeks now.
