Thanks. I bought two PEs about a month ago and started compiling this information in one convenient document even before I had received the PEs. I have to give credit where credit is due. I have learned a lot and continue to learn from the users on this forum which allows me to get the most out of my PE.

obsessed, one think you should mention for completeness of your list is that the Amazon app store is only available to those users that have a US address as is Google voice.

I know this does not apply to the new users that bought from woot but it appears there are still EEs and PEs available here in Europe albeit at the original price.

Thanks for pointing this stuff out. I wasn't aware that Amazon would only be available to U.S users since they ship internationally. You are correct about Google Voice and I think this is mentioned in the posts linked to. The posts also talk about alternative methods of making phone calls for international owners so I hope they may still be useful to our friends worldwide.

Should the above be GB instead of MB?

Thanks

Obsessed, to be even more efficient in advice-providing, I suggest that you include SugarSync as an alternative to DropBox which is equally powerful and easy to use, and also free,
but has two very big advantages which make it a winner in the contest:
it offers 5,5Gb+ for free (when DropBox offers only 2,3Gb), and you can choose ANY folders in your hard disk and point them to be synced as you please.
In DropBox, you have to put contents to be shared in a separate specific folder, and this is quite limitating.

Since I was referred to SugarSync, I've chosen it as my first cloud-sync site and left my DropBox account for other stuff.
It works splendidly in Android (/Ermine) and you can sync many devices simultaneously.
I have three in sync (notebook, PC and Edge), and it's the perfect companion for the Edge.

That's what I love about this forum. The users always have excellent suggestions that help other users, like myself, and we always learn new things. I never heard of SugarSync until you mentioned it here. Thanks again for the tip. Keep them coming because we all benefit from each other on this forum. I added it to the original post and at the end of this reply.

Thanks for putting this together.

I just thought I'd mention that for people with a slow internet connection or a daily download allowance like I have on satellite, SugarSync doesn't appear to have a LAN mode like Dropbox does. And I'm not entirely sure Dropbox's LAN mode actually looks to the LAN first like it's supposed to.

If you have a NAS or a PC that's usually on, there's a wireless sync app called Syncness on the Amazon market that will sync between any network device with an IP address and share. I use this to pass files between my PC, EE, and PE using my NAS as the storage folders and it works perfectly. You install it on your eDGe and just point to source and target folders to keep synced.

It also has a sync to/from dropbox mode that I haven't tried yet since I'm using it to keep my network traffic down.

I usually use my PC to download Apps and then transfer them to my PE wirelessly. Most of the Apps I referenced in this thread can be downloaded using a PC. In fact, I rechecked all the links using my PE to make sure they would work from a PE as well. The nice thing about Android Apps is most of them are very small file sizes so even downloading with dial-up shouldn't be a problem

Syncness, sounds pretty cool. This is definitely good information for those who either have dial up or satellite with download limits. I'll be sure to check it out. Thanks.
