goldy319, go to facebook.com/hsn and many questions are answered and you can ask questions. This is what is said about apps: There is not an apps store on this unit, it is a full fledged version of window 7 just like you would find on a pc.

Win 7 has a special setting for tablet PC's http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/w...your-Tablet-PC
But, most of what I've read is not complimentary.

While I understand less than stellar feelings about Win7, having used it on a tablet (the Asus eee slate) for a month now, I can only tell you that it's great!!!! The key things are that it is pen-driven (wacom active digitizer), not touch, and that it's a powerful machine (i5 with 4gb ram). Touch driven win7 stinks (I have it on my now-un-used Toshiba libretto). The major factor is an adequately powered machine. It's just fantastic. The downside of the Asus is that it's slightly too big and too heavy (1 kg).

I bet that slate is great, but at 1200 dollars, I can't afford it.

The price is a definite barrier. I am a major fan of OneNote so a win tablet is essential. There is a Fujitsu tablet (Stylistic Q550, 690g, replaceable battery, 10.1 inch) coming out next month at about $800 that has the new "oak trail" processor (I think) and 2gb ram. It may be pretty good. It has an active digitizer though not wacom. Probably worth looking into. For me, OneNote is the real key.

Talking

I use a HP tm2t - it has a digitizer, capacitive touch, i3 (low power), 7200 rpm drive, and can be had for about 700 (I got a refurb much cheaper). The only drawback is weight at 4lbs.

If you can wait until Christmas, it'll be around $500!

My warranty is expired, according to a repair person at Best Buy the most logical scenario is that heat and the constant folding caused the wiring to break. The last thing I did while it was still functioning was to fold it back to back. After I was done I closed it and when I went back to it no response on the touch screen. I doubt the cost of repair is worth it.

Someone has just started a thread with a program they've created to merge annotations on a pdf with the original pdf as layers: http://forum.tabletpcreview.com/asus...-eee-note.html

Journal notes from scratch are currently saved as "a graphics file" (apparently .gif with a relatively large resolution). Someone else writes: "The .nte files that you get when exported to your computer can be renamed to .cab and then opened. You'll finde the pages of the note as .gif images. Is there a known way to convert it? I could send the notes to Evernote and convert to PDF."

And, I did read it syncs with Evernote one way - your files can be uploaded to Evernote, but not reverse. As the reviewer writes: "The evernote app doesn't really exist in the eee note. It is more of a button that asks you do you want to upload this to evernote and that is it."

Also reports that other tablet pc pens with erasers work, including the eraser.

Oh, and found a link to the English manual (pdf) in case that helps: http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/Eee..._Manual_US.pdf

Seems to me the cost of repair would be a razor knife, a soldering iron, some shrinktube and solder, and a little glue to put it back together. fixing a broken wire is not rocket surgery, yanno?

All I know is that fixing zaf or whatever that flat wiring is called is out of my league.
