I'm still having problems with my eDGe "losing" my Adobe ID. Every now and then I have to re-register it. This was happening before the froyo update, and according to tech support, I'm the only user who is reporting this problem. But it's a real pain in the, um, well, you know. (I wonder who's monitoring the filters these days?)

Is there any way this could be an Adobe issue rather than an eDGe issue? Doubtful, I know, but I'm curious...

Ack! And here I am telling people on the MobileRead forum how much I like my PE . . .

Cheyenne, I am so sorry to hear that your EE has crapped out after little more than a year. What happens to the mind meld now??

(Sorry. I know it's a serious problem and I seriously hope you find a satisfactory resolution -- soon.)

Ugh, that's horrible

Well, I still have the new PE - for now, and I like this forum so I can still be helpful.

I don't think it's doubtful; I think Adobe is definitely the problem. I don't think it has anything to do with the eDGe.

Good lord, cheyennedonna, you've had the world's most techno-awful day, especially with the added thrill of the SD backup restore fail. I hope that you get a good tech support result on the EE and the PE stays healthy -- and that this doesn't become a horrible broader trend. It's no biggie for me: I haven't had the new gadgets long enough to get deeply attached to them, and I have no intention of putting any irreplaceable data on them until we see how everything shakes out with the Ermine issues. But a lot of you veteran users have so much more invested -- I hope everyone can export or print or e-mail the mission-critical items, just in case.

When you register, a special file gets written to internal storage that stores the registration confirmation supplied by Adobe and used thereafter when opening any purchased eBook.

"Forgetting the Adobe ID" suggests this file is being corrupted and or deleted.

So, it makes me tend to think it's a problem in the enTourage software...

Okay, that's just horrible--though it's easily enough solved by calling Adobe and begging them to reset your ID. Any idea what would keep corrupting the file? I had thought Overdrive Media was corrupting the file (the file isn't being deleted, I've checked)--so I uninstalled Overdrive. My EE worked fine for a few weeks, then the problem cropped again--twice. And why only me? No one else seems to have this problem.

I'm just positting a plausible explanation for a "disappearing Adobe ID"

However, defective memory could be causing the corruption/loss. Again, I'm guessing here. Only enTourage could give you a true answer.

Just catching up after a day away, but sorry to hear about your edge! I hope tech support can give you some help/guidance with the backup file.

I'm sorry to hear about your edge as well. I had a nonresponsive touch screen on my PE back in March. It wouldn't work unless I held down on the casing near the "back" button. It's fixed now, though. Tech Support took care of me.

Wouldn't you know it? The problem seems to be occurring more frequently (memory problem is looking more likely). After re-registering just two days ago, the problem cropped up again last night. I re-registered again this morning. Guess I'll ask tech support to reopen that case.
