So far quite good!
The update went smoothly once I figured out the correct email on my PE. I am not nearly the power users you are, but there is one odd navigation issue I noticed.
When I use the thumb-mouse to navigate the library it appears unresponsive. Once or twice it wouldn't allow me to tap books or music files, but did allow me to exit. When I tap the library everything was fine. This morning it appears it won't let me navigate within the library but does allow me to tap items. A minor thing, but interesting. Thanks for everyone's help enabling this update! |

At the bottom of the LCD side is a large "X" icon on a tab. Slide it up to reveal an application list. Scroll to the bottom of the application list and look for the "Update" app. Tap and follow instructions from there.

Anyone know a battery AP that might work. I had one that worked fine for a while but a couple of weeks ago just stopped. It reads 100% most of the time...then I run out of power unexpectedly. Using ee

Perhaps you have a truly ancient eDGe from before there was an update app (i.e., like from early last summer, or late spring).
In that case, read and follow the instructions in the last paragraph on this page: https://www.entourageedge.com/suppor...barticleid=207 (i.e., the paragraph starting with "If you have a full-size enTourage eDGe with an older software release"). |

Perhaps I'm missing something, but I thought I saw several mentions of syncing gmail and google calendar. I installed the gmail app, but it won't open. Did I misunderstand that we'd be able to use these google apps with this version of the OS?

The information you have all posted is incredibly helpful! Thank you. As someone who really bought this to be able to carry, read, and annotate lots of PDFs, I have three questions that I'd appreciate your feedback on before I take the plunge:
1) Do annotations on the eInk move with zoom and scroll? 2) Does anyone else see the decreased sharpness of PDFs as noted by Boris? 3) Would you recommend downloading it if the primary interest is annotations of PDFs on the eInk side? Thanks! |

I translate your number into Latin, to be erudite.
I) Not with zoom. I don't know about scrool. II) No. Boris is getting old and his eyes are deteriorating. I'm getting old, too, but not as fast. The pdfs look the same to me. III) That's my primary interest, and I'm doing it, but annotation don't work in landscape mode. My workaround it to use repligo to annotate on the tablet side, then reopen the pdf on the e-ink side for reading. I'm dealing with one-page pdfs only, though; this won't be suitable for everyone. There are other reasons to download the beta, though; for example, if you like things to work a bit faster, or if you enjoy having your machine fail to come out of hibernation, necessitating a battery reset. Not everyone has been able to enjoy this last feature, though. |

![]() I haven't read PDFs on my EE for quite a while, doing most of my EPUB reading on the PE since I got it last November. The PDFs do appear to look "normal" on the EE this morning (as opposed to my tired eyes last night), but the PE's 16-shades-of-gray screen is must crisper and higher contrast in comparison. I think I had simply gotten use to the better PE screen. So, to translate the numbers and Latin into letters, just to be silly, B) I retract this comment - PDFs on the EE look the same as before. |

This is what I primarily use my edge for, but I got the update mainly to see what is new. Beyond landscape view, the only other thing I noticed that would be of interest is the increased speed and the response times.

I left my edge in hibernation all night and it woke with no issues, I even got a notification that thee was a new email while it was closed. (so is it a true hibernation?) One problem last night,WiFi was disconnected and each time I hit connect it said error. A reboot solved the issue.

![]() Thanks, I never expected to have an even older firmware on my EE. I bought it a couple of months ago. Everybody complaining about a lack of updates didn't help either ![]() So, I followed the update instructions and it was updated directly to Ermine. Took a pretty long time to update (even thought the update was hanging), but finally success. Not a bad job of the entourage devs. |

Later this evening I'll be able to report if the "hibernation" mode works any better on the PE. Typically it's at about 20-25% by supper time, but if it's still up around 50 or 60%, then the PE's new hibernation mode has improved. In theory, hibernation means 0 power draw (at least on PCs). |

The devs were working on 2.2 at least since July 2010, which is 9 months. Given the report in November ("A Statement on Froyo") that there were serious performance issues, the devs have certainly managed to work sheer magic (yet again, btw) because Froyo actually runs faster than Donut (Android 1.6) on both the EE and the PE.

I cannot seem to connect through "Mobile Broadband" anymore. The 3G connection worked flawless under Dingo-1.12 on my PE(after removing the SIM's PIN). Now it just says "Connecting to isp.telus.com..." and never connects.
![]() As this was a major feature I used to use my PE as a netbook replacement while being mobile, I will need to downgrade back to Dingo-1.12. Overall, everything else on this new release seems to work fine, I had some initial hick-ups after the first boot, but I just restarted it and everything(but 3G) worked again. |
