If technically feasible, new versions of Android (Froyo, Gingerbread) will be welcome, provided that there are no functional regressions. To roam the web casually I have plenty of other choices, most of which running Android 2.x. The eDGE belongs to a category of its own. |

I agree with this, landscape view on e-ink is more critical than Android version...

You're correct - Gingerbread is 2.3, Honeycomb is 3.0.
2.3 was only just released for general use. 3.0 is currently only in preview, and I wouldn't expect to see it released until Spring of next year (2011) at th earliest. |

Slipped my mind but is it 2.3 or 3.0 that's supposed to natively support tablets? I think it's 3.0, right?

Yes, it is 3.0 that Google says is designed for tablets, which they also call Honeycomb. There are no devices yet shipping with 3.0, although the Motorola XOOM tablet just announced at CES will have 3.0, and they say that will be 1st Quarter of 2011 with the 3G device, upgraded later to 4G (stated at the CES announcement of the device). But of course, there are no promises!

We have not received any information about when the new update will be available, and I assume you are talking about Android 2.2. The Entourage people did indicate that it will be released first on the Pocket eDGe, then later on the full-sized device. My suspicion is that we will not hear anything about it until just before the release is available for download.

Rather than using Froyo, I prefer get the SDK in order to develop some applications which can use the E-ink screen. eDGe / pocket eDGe both are very nice devices contains two kinds of screens. I'd like to use E-ink more than just read ebooks. Like Nook. Nook is develop by 600x944 resolution. Upper: E-ink, 600x 800 Lower: LCD, 480x144 If SDK of eDGe allow user to develop application like this way or other else which can let us control E-ink side, I'll be very appreciate. |

I, for one, appreciate all the work that goes into a new release for a device like the EDGE. I also think that my pokcet edge is an amazing device, not just as a reader, but as a tool for so may uses every day. I also want to state how responsive and helpful the tech support has been from Entourage. As an "older user" I am always amazed at how technology can serve the good and make life easier. I also appreciate a company that commits to "get it right" before release...not common today, but engendered by this company. Thanks
