Edge Seriourly Lagging

Title: Edge Seriously Lagging

Hello,

Recently just purchased the edge entourage, I'm using it for pdf annotation and it's extremely annoying the things I'm encountering:

1. There is extreme highlighting lag, almost 2 minutes at times
2. There is annotating lag, again, almost 2 minutes at times again.
3. Sometimes that pen annotations turn into complete scribble.
4. When highlighting, it highlights the word before the word I want to highlight (yes, I've recalibrated the screen several times already)
5. The page won't turn until 2 to 5 minutes at times.

I have no idea why this is happening. It has taken me almost 2 hours to go through 40 pages of a book, where I could have done this before in a hour. This is in addition to internet connectivity issues. I'm ready to break this thing in half.

Updates seem to be uploaded, not yet with Dingo.

Comments, suggestions?

Update: Using the reader on the left, the factory default orientation, seems to help tremendously. Any tips on highlighting?

Highlighting has always been tricky because it depends, in part, on what the pdf thinks is an actual word/sentence/paragraph. Some pdfs have ugly "under the hood" formatting and what we *see* as line breaks/word breaks may not be encoded as line or word breaks.

That said, I usually have to try 2 - 5 times to get exactly (and only exactly) what I want highlighted. I've had little problem with annotation, and lag measured only in seconds not minutes. To be honest, I tend to just underline, scribble or otherwise annotate a section of text rather than highlight it.

To test for comparison, maybe Entourage would send you a pdf they know is formatted well, and you could try highlighting that to see how easy it is to select. That would give you an idea of optimum performance to expect. I know in the early days of us receiving our machines, they also offered to take a look at specific pdfs we were having trouble with to let us know where they thought the problem was. You could try sending them the pdf to look at on their end.

Is this a very large document? (Like a textbook?) A lot of graphics? Did you create the pdf yourself by printing/exporting to pdf, or is this a professionally-created pdf download? Are you having this trouble with multiple different pdfs or just one/some in particular? Is there any pattern to the types of pdfs giving you the most problems? Information like that might help others troubleshoot your problem.

I'm not sure if this means you haven't updated to Dingo yet, but if you haven't, definitely do the update. enTourage has been steadily fixing and improving things, and it's possible your problems may go away with the latest update.

Other than that, sarah11918's post should be your focus.

I will try to update with Dingo.

I am having a hard time registering the device through the unit. I am able to connect to the internet (sometimes) and then when I'm able to, the registration still doesn't going through. I'm unsure what's causing the error.

If this persists, try taking your eDGe to another place with a different wifi network (for example, a coffee shop, or a friend's place) and try from there.

This happens to me sometimes too. Once, with a PDF file (8 pages), Reflow mode, lag about 10 seconds. Yesterday, this happened with a book (800 pages, 1.8 MB), also in the Reflow mode. This happens only when in the PDF Reflow mode.
