Let no one think that anything "advanced" exists in Japan...especially when it comes to personal tech devices. Everything here in Japan has usually been sold everywhere else in the world long before it gets here. So, one won't find an Android 2.2 tablet in Japan that isnt already available all over. The Samsung Galaxy Tab is available here, but only with an expensive phone company contract. I have not seen other 2.2 tablets around, though it is certainly possible that they exist and are just not yet out at the major electronics shops.

As for being a curmudgeon, we need that here Chubulor so don't stop. The expression of multiple opinions is very important, and especially those that demonstrate (as yours usually do) an analytic approach rather than a reflex answer. Even when I may not agree with you, your analysis is much appreciated.

I know why I laughed. If you call yourself a "10-incher" I can only offer my heartiest congratulations and express my envy.

Any news on the next software update (like Android 2.2) for the EE?

I'll give you the scoop on Android 2.2 for the eDGe, but first I'd like to tell you about a bridge in Brooklyn that I'd like to sell to you.

Welcome to the forums, gmsj No hint yet as to what or when the next update will be. We see minor bug fix releases about once a month. enTourage is working hard on Android 2.2. Indications are that they have it working but it's still too slow to ship like that (apparently due to the larger screen size compared to cell phones, and the slow 800MHz clock speed doesn't help), so they have to further optimize it to get the performance we will be expecting. No indication of a release date but they expect the PE to get the update before the EE (again, screen size).

I recently got my EE. I figured of course I could get gmail and my google calendar on the device, it being an Android and all. I have the emulator and have been able to install other apps but no google. (Dirty ********) I was quite disappointed to discover that was not possible. I am so impatient.... Please note: My best quality is not patience.

With my PE I can access my google calendar via the net. When I know I am going someplace that I will not have internet access, I click, "work offline" in the calendar. This will set up a view-only calendar that can be accessed without net. Once I get net service again I can edit the calendar.
I hope this isn't yesterday's knowledge. I am fairly new the the entourage world.

Newest version of google calendar isn't compatible with android 1.6, an update would fix that. speaking of which I thought I'd pop in and see if there was any news?

Alas, no news about the Android upgrade yet. As mentioned in other posts, it is likely that we won't hear anything until it is almost ready to be downloaded

As i explained in this post, probably there will be no 2.2 at all. Note that I haven't PocketEdge, so I'm talked about EE, but if hardware is similar enough than the same applied to PE.

p.s. I really hope that EE' developers will find some workaround, but I didn't count on that too much.
