Development Custom firmware

Yes. I'm alive but very busy. My nanotechnology's project won at the conferense, so now I'm getting ready to defend the project at the face of investors on international forum in november.

p.s. I checkin the forum from time to time, but as I see nothing happened during last 2 monthes?

You're close enough. We worked on the "stretched (rubber) electronics"... in future, as an example, it will allow to create an 1inch display which can be stretched to 10inch when necessary

Hey robot, thanks for your replies. I'm a noob in android debugging but I'd like to help with the task of running the system on the e-ink. If you tell me how to reproduce what you have done so far, I can try to work on the instabilities you have found. The possibility of seeing kindle's books and annotating djvus, for me, seem worthy enough! =)

my edge wont start it freezez in the initialization
after the new dingo 1.10 was updated.

I tried several times to use update.zip for version 1.6 & 1.10
but no difference. is there a way the device could be formated
and restored to factory system using an offline updater ? such as update.zip

Just bought a Viewsonic gTablet yesterday at Sears ($359 with a Sears card application, woohoo) after hearing that while the stock firmware was awful, the hardware is the best out there...and there are custom ROMs out there to fix the firmware problems. Don't know if VS updated it or whatever, but I haven't seen any of the problems the reviewers complained about, so I'm not sure I'm going to go the custom firmware route.

But it is nice that VS has been supportive enough of the developer community's attempts to work around some of the glitches in their own firmware.

What is the battery duration?
Also, does it have active digitizer?

I don't think it has a digitizer as the screen is capacitive. I haven't stress-tested the battery myself yet, but the word on the street is that the battery life is very good, about 11.5 hours with wi-fi on.

I'm beginning to see the problems the reviewers had, though. You practically have to shake the thing to get it to re-orient in response to the accelerometer...I *hope* that's just a firmware problem. Not really sure I want to root it before I'm sure of it as I'm sure they won't let me return a rooted device.

I also have bought gtablet.....Battery life is very good 10+ hrs....no digitizer and screen is so so....not very good viewing angle...my fullsize edge has a better color screen..the capacitive touch is excellent and the accelerometer seems to work just fine for me.

Comes stock with Android 2.2 and Viewsonic has a link to beta flash that works great with stock browser. Still, for reading nothing yet beats my Edge, except for perhaps the Large Kindle.

After experiancing Android 2.2 I can't wait for 2.2 on my Edge either rooted or through Entourage!! So don't give up developers!!

I currently have Sony reader 600, Kindle2 and 3, Nook Color, ipod touch 4th gen. and fullsize Edge.

They all are usefull under different situations....nothing like playing Angry Birds full screen on a 10.1'' screen!! or Reading on the 9.7'' eink screen!! or surfing the web in Starbucks ( Nook), reading at night ( Nook), or surfing without wifi (Kindle3)

I am a tech junkie no other way to explain spending so much on overlapping tech!!!

jonnickell, did you install a custom ROM or did you stick with the TapNTouch one that came with it?
