Hi This is Pat.

I am a biomedical scientist now but I used to be a clinician (there was too much money so I quit ).
I am another addition to the list of people with PhDs, who use EE (although I finished 5 years ago; Biochemistry)

Before I got into all these long winded educational and research-related activities I just loved to read. After a long hiatus, I am now back to reading seriously. My first buy was Kindle 2 but I needed something for PDFs. Also I wanted the ability to read scientific papers and medical textbooks. Ipad was no-go, since I cannot read off a LCD for long. I finally found EE and I am very happy since.

My name is Carl (Dutch Sjarrel is a nickname for Charles). I have two daughters and a grandson. I love to read all kinds of books. Just for fun, but also to learn. I always read a manual for each device from AZ. Make notes, forget about the things I do not use the first time. Months or even years later, I remember that one device can do more, I know I read about it, but where? And that's why I love the Entourage eDGe.
I have spent my youth for most of the time in the theater instead of the university, but I later learned huge amount. My daughters are highly educated, but Dad is still "help desk" for each problem, so I still feel usefull to them.
I have many hobbies including reading, computer, sailing, snooker, golf, photography, video editing and travel (I have been in 22 of the United States, a few countries in Africa, New Zealand and most European countries.
About 30 years ago I was one of the first to own a PC in the Netherlands, because I thought it would be the device of the future. I am one of the first owners of EE now because I think this is the device of the future.

And my name is Jos, I'm dutch (so sorry for my English).
My age is 51, I'm a father of 2 sons and a beautiful daughter, I'm NOT a granddad :-) (sorry cheyenne!)
I'm a physiotherapist and I use my eDGe for my "hobby", which is being a member of the board of the pension-fund for physiotherapists (SPF)
One of my goals is to take the board further into the digital world and to minimize the use of paper (a paper low office)
So I'm promoting to use PDF's and open source software.
For my meetings I do a lot of reading, annotating and taking notes, I hope to make the eDGe a tool for all my board-members.

CU on the forum, greetings,

Jos.

Introduction

Hi, I'm from Calgary Alberta and although I have not had many comments, I'm the classic lurker, always checking in for great ideas. I'm still learning more each day but have not immersed myself yet. I'm looking forward to many of the new updates all of you have requested as it will definitely help my organization in a number of ways. We are a small engineering textbook publisher and see the eDGe as an ideal replacement for our books. We have been looking for several years and have tested a number of products (Desktops, Laptops, Netbooks, IREX DS 1000S and Iliad, Kindle DX, Sony PRS600) It exhibits all the features that learners using our texts desire; need to study intensely for more than 1/2 hour, foldability, ability to annotate, note taking, highlighting, colour options, access to links. With the Android OS and Wifi we are also able to provide links to our complete set of online resources. The only thing it is unable to do is survive the 3 1/2 foot drop test (the IREX DS 1000). We see it as the ideal use of new technology as a modern option for the ideal invented thousands of years ago - the book. If our client schools adopt the eDGE they will also preserve about 1500 trees a year as we currently print about 10,000,000 pages.

My only current issue with the eDGe, apart from the anticipated updates, is my inability to keep one in my office. I've now managed to purchase 15 and have had to leave town to keep one with me. Good news, many of the schools that have seen it intend to investigate its use. Two will be using them in the fall, in conjunction with our texts and so we should have a good field trial to talk about (approximately 160 students) over the next year. It may be useful to have an active discussion with many of you who have had time to delve into intricacies of optimizing the eDGe experience.

Cool! A fellow Calgarian. Well, I am from Calgary, Alberta, Canada. I have had my Edge for a few months, my first one decided to be a lemon and my second one seems to be working fine! I currently work at a Technical College here as an IT professional.

Overall, I think the Edge is cool but its a bit heavy and decided to buy a Kobo for an ebook reader as my major function requires it be in Landscape mode which the Edge doesn't do but Kobo does.

But, I also find that I don't use it too much...I use it mostly for Tweeter now LOL or fast browsing (netbook).

Hi, I'm in Cleveland. I am student going for my bachelor's degree, I'm trying to do a double major in Computer Engineering and Mathematics but I am married with children so time is an issue. I love my eDGe and use it daily for reading, note taking, playing games & music & video, surfing, email, etc. It has basically replaced my netbook and desktop for most things. I believe I have attained missionary status as I tend to proselytize to anyone who shows even the slightest interest in my device. I have named it R'lyeh (well, I guess I just renamed the library actually) and I have in fact had one nightmare involving it trying to eat my children. I am currently attempting to teach it compassion.

Hi, I'm Chris. I'm from Hungary, Europe and I'm working at a subsidiary of a US based oil company.

Currently I use my eDGe for reading but I'm trying to find additional usage for it because I like the product very much and I'd like to use it for its full potential. I'm new to the Android world so thanks a lot to all of you who are posting Android applications. It helps me a lot to find good Android applications. I'm dieing for the upcoming USB2VGA feature of the eDGe so I don't have to carry my company laptop to meetings.

I'm Sarah (from Toronto, now living in Atlantic Canada) and I'm a tablet junkie. I have owned a few tablet PCs but currently own an old Motion Computing M1400 Tablet PC and a Nokia N810 internet tablet in addition to the eDGe. Main laptop is a Mac, though, so I use a bamboo input tablet for that.

I tutored math for 18 years and towards the end, was doing so on a tablet PC. It was just so easy to scribble off a solution and email it to a student, or to handwrite into MSN if a student had a question late one night before a test. I also tried to conserve paper during tutoring sessions by having students work on the tablet, and then we both had a permanent record of what we did that couldn't get crumpled in their school bag on the way home. I'm retired from tutoring/teaching now, so I don't exactly *need* more tablet devices, but we travel a lot and often need to fill out forms and sign paperwork on the road. I've bought and sold houses on that little N810, so I'm sold on the tablet (stylus input) concept.

I had never owned an ereader, but I do take books on the road and was having to be selective about what I could take for packing reasons, so I started peeking around. Most of my reading is non-fiction books and articles I've printed off the web in pdf form, both things where I want to be able to take notes. So, I needed an ereader that handles pdf's well and can annotate via stylus. I find that I'm often using the journal side to take notes, make lists, jot down things to remember while I'm browsing the web on the edge.

Since hubby and I are semi-retired and I don't have a day job (or school program) in which to use the edge, I haven't been as quick to experiment with all the features as some here. But, I do keep an eye on the forum to see what interesting things others are doing with their devices.

Hello,

My name is Justin, I am a 28yr old father of 3, soon to be 4. I am working towards a software engineering degree, while working as a system administrator. I do android development in my free time, with most of the earnings from it going to Homeless Youth Charities. I was recently brought in as a contributor to AndroidPolice.com, with my debut article being on the eDGe.

That's an odd typo, and the fact that I made comments about you being an Entourage employee which you did not refute in the mean time is also odd. But I'll accept this for the sake of moving on.

Definitely an odd typo.

Anyway, I'm Kevin and I'm a 3rd year doctoral student from NYC studying Educational Psychology. After I finish this doctorate I will do a post-doc for licensure requirements and then hopefully get into another doctoral program in Computer Science where I can acquire the skills to study and create educational software and conduct research with tools like this http://www.emotiv.com/apps/sdk/181/ and fulfill my lifelong dream of creating glitch http://reboot.wikia.com/wiki/Glitch
