In my experience, when you zoom in and annotate something, you cannot scroll or the annotations will scroll too... that is, they're not anchored to the text. This is a very clever idea for getting things landscape, though!

+1 that e-ink landscaping is the most pressing issue on the edge, and that we'd rather have it without annotation etc than not have it.

I really need this feature, I am seriously considering buying another reader just because I cannot properly read typical technical PDF documents. They show up very small. Zoom does not help very much for an A4 formatted PDF and reflow breaks everything. I do not care about android version etc. Just landscape reading :-(

I'm not sure if anyone has tried, but perhaps the PDF to Go on the LCD side would work in landscape. It can't handle DRM-protected PDFs, though (except maybe simply password protected).

I have, it works fine with my textbooks, not DRM protected, but kind of defeats the purpose of having an ereader. My netbook would have been enough with software like Nitro PDF or the new Nookstudy to add notes.

I also have. The option 'fit to width' makes it readable, but still waiting for the readerside for more convenient reading.

The public library Overdrive app I think is an Adobe Reader and seems to allow you to "import" and PDF/EPUB, including, of course, DRM ebooks and not just from the local library. Has anyone explored its capabilities for DRM content like textbooks, and annotation capabilities?

I have Overdrive on the edge and cannot find a way to import books from the edge drive to it.

Honestly, the Documents-To-Go PDF viewer is pretty liimited. After all, it was meant for a phone.
Landscape viewing is one of my top requests for the eReader side. |

Hi I have not got my Edge yet hopefully it is on its way, but in the meantime I am very concerned about the inability of the eInk screen to turn documents to landscape view. My biggest use for the device would be reading technical PDFs and this is a serious drawback. I do however have a simple solution for Entourage that they might consider. Clearly the biggest problem is keeping annotations and highlights correctly anchored in the document so I propose that once you start annotating the document it maintains the orientation it is in and you can not change it, viz if you have the document in landscape and start working on it you can not turn it back to portrait and vica - versa. One does not need automatic rotation using the accelerometer just the abilty to choose the orientation you want for that particular document. If this does not get sorted out within a reasonable period of time I am already considering selling mine and ordering a Pocketbook Pro 903

And here is the thing!!! once the landscape issue is sorted we should have the ability to type journal notes or make annotations on the eInk screen using the touch keyboard of the LCD screen. WOW !!!

We (as users) have no idea if/when it will be possible to read on the eInk side in landscape view. If you truly think this is a critical capability for your needs, then indeed you may be better off with another device. Having said that, I read technical pdf's on the eDGe every day, and don't find that to be a major shortcoming of the device. The only problem is the size of the pdf's when I read them on my Pocket eDGe. This issue is a major one and has been brought up by many users in this forum. But buying the device, with the hope that this would be resolved "soon enough" (whatever that may mean to you), may lead you to extreme frustration, that in my opinion, just isn't worth it. These tech devices should be our servants and not a source of consternation.
