LCD touchscreen registers touch in a totally different spot

Does any have the LCD touch screen registering their touch in a different spot than you tapped on besides me? Often I will tap to open an app near the bottom of the list and the top item in the recent content will open. Also tapping about an inch above the menu bar will open my library, mail etc. I have tried recalibrating multiple times, with no change. I am rapidly becoming frustrated.

If you want to see this demonstrated there is a 3gp video clip in this drop. It should play in Media Player on any pc.

Yeah, when I go browsing the web and scrolling down it jumps like crazy. But I have since tried using my iPhone stylus and it seems to be working a bit better. You could change the touch sensitivity to see if that resolves your problem..

Yeah, I am having this problem quite a bit. It's frustrating. Don't know if it's a new bug introduced by the software update or something else, but definitely one of my top issues with the device so far.

I am using a stylus, way worse with my finger. The video I put in a drop shows a tap causing a 2 inch or better line to draw on the screen in places.

this would also seem to cause the keyboard problems. this is my main problem with the device.

Boris, its more than scroll jumps. Watch that video, you will see me tap on the screen with a stylus in several spots. I am using a drawing app to illistrate how a light tap draws a full, long line on the screen, ending inches from where I tapped. And yes, I updated 1st thing when i got mine.

I notice this, too, on the LCD side. (A random glitch of sample deviance being treated as real data?) Using the stylus on the LCD improves accuracy.

Edit: 2010-05-10 -- Since the last software update I notice less of this kind of glitchiness with the LCD input.

Seeing as the stylus improves the accuracy, this leads me to believe that it may be hardware based, as resistive screens like this are not known for accuracy with finger-based input.

One thing that you can try is recalibrating the LCD. To do this, go to into Settings and then select the option "Sound and Display". At the bottom of the next screen you will find the option "Calibrate LCD", select this and follow the instructions.

If the problem persists after doing this, please submit a trouble ticket so that the support team can work with you to resolve the issue. This can be done through the following link:

Sorry, but recalibrating the LCD does not do anything to help. I have done this many times. I have submitted a help ticket.

No, recalibrating did not help

I recalibrated the LCD screen 5 times since I received. It did not help. (and realize I only had it 3 days)

What software are you using? I tried two versions of Draw and Share and the first version seemed to have a ton of accuracy problems. The 2nd, more current version, was much better. I am not saying there isn't a hardware issue because I have seen it especially with the keyboard active. Just curious.

It was called Note Everything

The app I used to record the video demo was called NoteEverything
http://www.softxperience.mobi/23-1-Note-Everything.html
It allows text, paint and voice notes, plus there is an add on that will download and upload to and Google docs. In full screen.

I will give it a try and maybe you should try the one I am using to see if it makes any difference.

Ok I downloaded it and gave it a quick test. I had more errors with your app than mine. 3 times the app drew the crazy long lines. Only once with Draw and Share. One thing I noticed is if you are gently with they stylus it is more prone to draw crazy lines. When I was firm all the time it worked ok. Too bad my hand writing is so bad in general. Not scientific but worth a try. Draw and Share does have a nice undo feature.
