Obviously there is only one possible reason.
Star Trek

The Sci fi gadgets of my youth that I always dreamed of are finally appearing!

yeah, that's the real reason for me too but don't tell anyone

the fact that I can make the print bigger, that I can carry a hole library in my purse and that it's easier to hold a little tablet than a big 300 pages book is the official reason I give to my family and friends

All right. All right. I admit it. I bought it so I could more easily carry round my multi-volume nefarious plans for the world wide domination of pretzels!!

1. running out of space on my bookshelves.
2. sore shoulder from carrying a lot of books on trips--I read fast. (portability)
3. easier to find free/cheap ebooks than paper books (I bought before agency pricing...)
4. easier to get the next book in series immediately--immediate gratification.
5. no one will judge me on my romance book covers again! ha!

You are so right. I've been looking to buy a PADD like Jake Sisko used in DS9 since I was a kid.

I was tired of having to carry multiple books in my briefcase, in case I finished one. Or having to go to the bookstore at noon so I would have something to read on the way home.

Ultimately, I didn't want people making judgements on what I was reading. Romance, mystery, bestseller.

I've kept my eye on the development of e-books over time and last week I bought my first, a BeBook Mini.
Excuses
- carry all my school notes, but without the bulk.
- new material from school is issued in digital format, so e-book saves paper.
- get back into reading, I've forgotten about reading the last couple of years.

Reasons
- a lot of books/notes/documentation in one handy device
- long battery life

Secret reasons
- manga, everywhere I go!
- it's a gadget!
- no more page turning, I hate that!

I bought mine so that I always have a book with me when my other half wants to stop and take MORE photos. This way he can spend as long as he likes as I am occupied. If we find a cafe and I can have a coffee as well, he could go and take photos all day.

That's such a nice thing of you to do (said by one who take photos and hate it when companions start to look at the watch)

My books told me to, they got tired of being a catrest.

My first exposure to ebooks was when I bought a palm pilot back in the day but the first dedicated ereader I bought was for my husband a couple years back. He was doing a lot of traveling and wanted something more practical than packing a handful (or more) of books. After that, I wanted one, and really liked the look of the nook. Now I am passing the nook onto a friend of mine and have gotten a Sony prs 350. Mostly because it looked like an awesome little device and I wanted a new toy. Now if only it came with a "stun" function...

It's cool! Women love it when I drive up to the Dairy Queen on my motorcycle, pull out my PRS350 from the saddle-bags and start reading Proust in French.

I can't actually read French and I don't really know who Proust is, but this old dog knows what the ladies like! OHH YEAH!
