Does it get better after the first few pages? If not, I'll pass (I've read much better indie published).

Sophie's Choice is FANTASTIC whether or not you have seen the movie. It is probably in my top 20 of all the books I've read in my life.

FYI - at least one book I was interested in, Spin by Robert Wilson, was the same price at the Sony store and other places. (I picked it up.) So if Amazon is not your preferred store, check others.

I know this might seem a minor point to some people, but I just wanted to know if anyone else had noticed that, particularly since Pyr - the publishers of this edition - are normally sticklers for presentation of their ebooks as much as their dead tree editions.
Sounds like a conversion from ePub where that sort of thing works.

I finally made my way through the entire list. Some gems in here for sure! One book that I have loved for many years now showed up on this sale and even though I had already purchased it I hope that some of you might enjoy it too, especially for $1.99!

This title was originally published as 4 separate books in the 70s. Edith Pargeter also wrote mysteries under the name Ellis Peters. I would safely say this is for fans of Sharon Kay Penman, English history, and/or sweeping sagas...

I got a Barbra Hambley novel, the first Sword of Truth novel, a Douglas Preston novel and some others like The Cabinet of Curiosities (Pendergast, Book 3).

My wife freaked because each purchase showed up as a separate charge on our credit card. She calmed down when she saw they were each 1-3 dollars.

Here's some from Dysney Hyperion (for YA):

Science Fair by Ridley Pearson and Dave Barry ($2.80)

Quote:
Product Description
Grdankl the Strong, president of Kprshtskan, is plotting to take over the American government. His plan is to infiltrate the science fair at Hubble Middle School, located in a Maryland suburb just outside Washington. The rich kids at Hubble cheat by buying their projects every year, and Grdankl's cronies should have no problem selling them his government-corrupting software. But this year, Toby Harbinger, a regular kid with Discount Warehouse shoes, is determined to win the $5,000 prize—even if he has to go up against terrorists to do it. With the help of his best friends, Tamara and Micah, Toby takes on Assistant Principal Paul Parmit, aka "The Armpit", a laser-eyed stuffed owl, and two eBay buyers named Darth and the Wookiee who seem to think that the Harrison-Ford-signed BlasTech DL-44 blaster Toby sold them is a counterfeit. What transpires is a hilarious adventure filled with mystery, suspense, and levitating frogs.
Kingdom Keepers: Disney After Dark by Ridley Pearson and David Frankland ($2.99)

Quote:
Product Description
In this fantastical thriller, five young teens tapped as models for theme park "guides" find themselves pitted against Disney villains and witches that threaten both the future of Walt Disney World and the stability of the world outside its walls. Using a cutting-edge technology called DHI--which stands for both Disney Host Interactive and Daylight Hologram Imaging--Finn Whitman, an Orlando teen, and four other kids are transformed into hologram projections that guide guests through the park. The new technology turns out, however, to have unexpected effects that are both thrilling and scary. Soon Finn finds himself transported in his DHI form into the Magic Kingdom at night. Is it real? Is he dreaming? Finn's confusion only increases when he encounters Wayne, an elderly Imagineer who tells him that the park is in grave danger. Led by the scheming witch, Maleficent, a mysterious group of characters called the Overtakers is plotting to destroy Disney's beloved realm, and maybe more. This gripping high-tech tale will thrill every kid who has ever dreamed of sneaking into Walt Disney World after hours and wondered what happens at night, when the park is closed.
Artemis Fowl (Artemis Fowl, Book One) by Eoin Colfer ($2.99)

Quote:
Product Description
Twelve-year-old Artemis Fowl is a millionaire, a genius—and, above all, a criminal mastermind. But even Artemis doesn't know what he's taken on when he kidnaps a fairy, Captain Holly Short of the LEPrecon Unit. These aren't the fairies of bedtime stories; these fairies are armed and dangerous. Artemis thinks he has them right where he wants them…but then they stop playing by the rules.

From a strikingly original voice in fiction comes the story of Artemis Fowl, a very unusual hero. Artemis combines the astuteness of Sherlock Holmes with the sangfroid of James Bond and the attitude of Attila the Hun. But even Artemis doesn't know what he's taken on when he kidnaps a fairy, Captain Holly Short of LEPrecon Unit. These aren't the fairies of bedtime stories. These fairies are armed and they're dangerous. Artemis thinks he's got them just where he wants them, but then they stop playing by the rules . . .

Full of unexpected twists and turns, ARTEMIS FOWL opens up a riveting world of magic, mystery, and humor.
Artemis Fowl: The Opal Deception by Eoin Colfer ($2.99)

Quote:
Product Description
The evil pixie Opal Koboi has spent the last year in a self-induced coma, plotting her revenge on all those who foiled her attempt to destroy the LEPrecon fairy police. And Artemis Fowl is at the top of her list. After his last run-in with the fairies, Artemis had his mind wiped of his memories of the world belowground. But they have not forgotten about him. Once again, he must stop the human and fairy worlds from colliding – only this time, Artemis faces an enemy who may have finally outsmarted him.Includes video footage from Eoin Colfer's one man stage show, Fairies, Fiends, & Flatulence. See different selections from the show in every Artemis Fowl eBooks 1-7.
Artemis Fowl: The Time Paradox by Eoin Colfer ($2.99)

Quote:
Product Description
When Artemis Fowl’s mother contracts a life-threatening illness, his world is turned upside down. The only hope for a cure lies in the brain fluid of the silky sifaka lemur. Unfortunately, the animal is extinct due to a heartless bargain Artemis himself made as a younger boy. Though the odds are stacked against him, Artemis is not willing to give up. With the help of his fairy friends, the young genius travels back in time to save the lemur and bring it back to the present. But to do so, Artemis will have to defeat a maniacal poacher, who has set his sights on new prey: Holly Short. The rules of time travel are far from simple, but to save his mother, Artemis will have to break them all…and outsmart his most cunning adversary yet: Artemis Fowl, age ten. Includes video footage from Eoin Colfer's one man stage show, Fairies, Fiends, & Flatulence. See different selections from the show in every Artemis Fowl eBooks 1-7.
The Warrior Heir by Cinda Williams Chima ($2.99)

Quote:
Product Description
Before he knew about the Roses, 16-year-old Jack lived an unremarkable life in the small Ohio town of Trinity. Only the medicine he has to take daily and the thick scar above his heart set him apart from the other high-schoolers. Then one day Jack skips his medicine. Suddenly, he is stronger, fiercer, and more confident than ever before. And it feels great—until he loses control of his own strength and nearly kills another player during soccer team tryouts.

Soon, Jack learns the startling truth about himself: He is Weirlind; part of an underground society of magical people who live among us. At the head of this magical society sit the feuding houses of the Red Rose and the White Rose, whose power is determined by playing The Game—a magical tournament in which each house sponsors a warrior to fight to the death. The winning house rules the Weir.

As if his bizarre magical heritage isn’t enough, Jack finds out that he’s not just another member of Weirlind—he’s one of the last of the warriors—at a time when both houses are scouting for a player.

something wierd about the Barbara Hambly novel. I put it on my wishlist but didn't get it right away, went back day before yesterday and it's gone. Not gone as in not at the low price, but not available period. Isn't that wierd?

I'm sad, too, because I loved the sample! Well, it's a lesson: if I see something I want, get it right away. I've already missed a couple of books I wanted at a lower price....But it is wierd that this one is just not available at all now.

Um. I think that may be my fault. I got an email from Amazon CS yesterday saying that they just checked to confirm the typos and that the publisher had been informed and so forth, which seems to have resulted in the book being yanked for fixing.

Sorry about that. Possibly they might restore it before the end of the sale, since it's been a week since I informed them and I did submit a list of errors to fix.

I don't know; maybe if you write Amazon CS saying that you were intending to buy the book even though it had errors and you had every faith the publisher would fix things while you took advantage of the lowered price, maybe they'll put it back in the sale.

Okay, follow-up on the MIA Those Who Hunt the Night. I got an email from Amazon CS in response to writing them in to express concern that they'd just yanked the book, and they said that they could confirm that they would "provide the corrected version of the content soon".

So hopefully it'll pop back up before the sale ends on the 15th.

Sorry about this, everybody.

Amazon CS are usually very good. I think that if you email them and explain the situation, they might still be willing to offer it at the special price

Somebody suggested emailing Amazon customer support in regards to errors in ebooks, but I'm damned if I can find a web page to email them at. Anyone got the webpage I can go to?
