I think that might be true, but only for NYC.

My guess is that most strait men don't read books about picking up women. They read books about history or politics; business; Sci-fi; or magazines like Popular Mechanics, PC World, Guns and Ammo, or some other hobby. Young men might prefer Maxim

No, most of them try. The success depends on matching the right shtick with the right chick.

You go a bit too deep and serious but since you have asked for it....
Based on what I have seen in my life, those book worms are much less successful than those who live full life. At least in the earlier stages 16-23 cool girls opt for cool guys It is only later in life some people change their attitude. Wisen up? Get fed up? Although in both cases it is mostly about safer options, more stable, reliable? Passion is not taken into account then...

We may have to start taking notes on what the men we see around us are reading.

Gee, that's a pretty narrow view of what straight men are like... I read books on sport as well!

Yes. It's not that men don't think about sex. We do, often. It's just that our thoughts aren't complicated enough to need a prose explanation.

I beg to differ. Hermes is a scarf.

And, yes, I am in fact fantastically and flamboyantly straight. Why, I fairly shiver with hetero virility.

MY wife will tell you I am lesbian, I like women

Truly though, I find these sort of statistical surveys to be of intellectual value only. As long as books are being released and purchased, does it truly matter what sexual preference the reader is?
