Coke Zero #2. In a pleasant hotel room in Manchester, having just driven my son here for his last exam (of this year) on Monday morning.

Cuppa #8

Golden Yunnan FOP from Tea House Emporium.
A very good China Black, Yunnan tea. It is not a golden liqueur of The East India Company, and it costs 1/4
Very good tea indeed.

It was the last cuppa for today. The next, cup #9 will be tisane, Lapacho, in bed with Deadhouse Gates

Tall and tan and young and lovely, The girl from Ipanema goes walking, And when she passes each one she passes goes "a-a-ah!"

When she walks she's like a samba that, Swings so cool and sways so gentle, That when she passes each one she passes goes "a-a-ah!"

Oh, but I watch her so sadly, How can I tell her I love her? Yes, I would give my heart gladly

But each day when she walks to the sea, She looks straight ahead not at me

Tall and tan and young and lovely, The girl from Ipanema goes walking, And when she passes I smile, but she doesn't see, She just doesn't see, No she doesn't see

Good morning, everyone! Bright sunny Monday morning that just shouts "drink Black tea!" So I will! A nice mug of East India Company's 'Royal Breakfast' tea to go along with Kalamata olives, hummus, Feta cheese, and warm pita bread.

Sounds can certainly be beautiful... Birds calling, babies laughing, wind in the trees, tea steeping (but you really have to listen hard for this one.)

The fact is, very little tea was actually dumped into the harbor. Only a couple of boxes out of entire shipload. It was all symbolic. And why waste good tea?

If the Mormons can do it, and the 7th Day Adventists can do it, so can the Teaists. It's a freedom guaranteed by the Constitution!

I think the difference is in the culture. Coffee is a beverage for working. Tea is a beverage for socializing. Companies such as Starbucks and Tim ? have tried to change that image, but social coffee went out with the fall of the Greenwhich Village Coffeee houses of the 50's and 60's. Today's coffee drinker is too rushed to sit with a cup of coffee and just savor it, hence the rise in "travel mugs." Sort of similar to the difference between cigarette smokers and cigar smokers. One is for a 'fix' of the drug inside, while the other is to savor the experience.
This is NOT to say that there aren't those who enjoy both.

If I remember correctly, it was President Regan who said that the ketchup served with school cafeteria hamburgers would count as a serving of vegetable. Cider should certainly be as valid a fruit serving!

But more tea for me, before I mount up for today's ride. This time I'll go with Astra's suggestions of a nice Assam tea!
Golden Assam F.G.T.O.P.1 to be more precise!

Good point. I know many people who carry travel mugs everywhere. I tend to drink coffee when I can have some quiet and enjoy it and tea when it is very cold out and I want to curl up and get warm.

Now, chocolate is an entirely different matter. My friends and I love trying different types and companies and love to sit and savor favorites. **pure bliss {sigh}**

Cold and rainy out, so curled up with the laptop, and having a cup of Oolong.
