![]() Regarding the touchscreen, they will certainly go this road indeed but the full keyboard had always been a huge difference with the rest of the market so perhaps they won't drop it. |

That would be a nice compromise if they can make the casing and keyboard attractive.

Fantasy ereader time. Not that this will ever happen but wouldn't it be nice if the big players would license their reader firmware/apps to third-party reader manufacturers and allow them to modify the apps and design said readers with multiple, built-in reader apps?
It would be heaven to have an eInk and/or tablet reader manufactured by a third-party, reputable company that could not only read Kindle, Sony, Nook bought books, but allow you to seamlessly buy from their stores (and other stores) and combine the books into a single library. Of course the reader apps would have to be greatly improved by third-party developers rather than the lackluster apps released by the big players. It will never happen for many reasons, but it is nice to dream. BTW, I'm NOT talking about an iOS or Android tablet capable of running third-party reader apps wherein each app is totally independent of the other apps nor cooperates with the other apps. I'm talking about an entire reader system based on multiple apps working together and sharing a common library and bookshelf without any push toward any individual or group of bookstores. Yes, that would be the thing--the ereader would definitely cost more since it was no longer subsidized by a huge book store company. Plus there would be licensing fees. But I too would gladly pay a premium to get a reader that was designed to please us customers rather than just shoved in our faces by a big player with the attitude of take it or leave it.

+1, Jack. I would totally buy that device. $400 would be a bargain.
'Course, I also want a third-party WEBSITE that contains all my store-bought content (Amazon, Kobo, B&N, etc.) and lets me organize my library online from there. There we go with our dreamy little dreams. ![]() |

Fantasy ereader time.
This is a problem I have had with choosing an ereader. Everything is on my ipod touch without hassle. Not that calibre is a problem or converting or stripping DRM, but its just a couple of clicks and I'm reading from about any store. I am glad I got organized using calibre though. Everything is in one spot now, easily moved around and backed up. I know I want a bigger screen that is e-ink. |

Also, rumors is that Amazon is going to release two tablets in the fall. They're like NookColor. http://www.slashgear.com/amazons-7-a...iday-23153677/ "Amazon’s 7- and 10-inch tablets $349 and $449 this holiday?" Last edited by sonyreaderfan; 06-05-2011 at 05:32 PM. |

I went with this option and brought home the Touch. Should a touch Kindle be released sometime this year, I'll sell it for $90. Should be easy to get rid of shortly before the Christmas season.

Sony has a tablet. Kobo does not have a tablet.

Where did you read this American centric guess work article? Since ePub is the format world wide, I highly doubt that Amazon has 65% of the world's eBooks. Yet again, another article that cannot see beyond the USA and is full of guessing since Amazon does not give sales figures.
