It was almost enough for me to want to take over my mother's condo when she passed away. She lived just a few blocks away from the restaurant and the condo would certainly be handy. But I figured if I did, I'd begin to look like some of the folks I saw eating in there... almost unable to fit between the seat and the table... and decided better I just visit once in a while...

We had good cuban food at Las Colinas yesterday. Our realtor says it is closest to his Mama's cooking. I had ropa vieja with yellow rice and sweet plantains. Yummy! Next time, I want to try the cuban sandwich.

Me, too. I decided to run down to the Asian market for some fruit. And since it's so hot I thought I would be SO smart and jump onto the freeway to get there (only 3 or 4 exits down) instead of my usual meandering through the back streets. ARGGH -- REPAVING!!! It was like a scene from Hell -- cars bumper to bumper, giant smoking machines, blinding sun and shimmering heat. Bad idea, the "jumping onto the freeway."

Dixie being from the south I bet your BBQ is as good or better than what you can find in a restaurant! My favorite BBQ place is called Ron's Ribs on South street in Philadelphia. Outside of N Carolina, it's the only restaurant that I have found that sells NC style BBQ, my favorite.

Illinois has two seasons: Winter and Road Construction.

Today is gorgeous - 90, breezy, partly cloudy (might storm later) but if I didn't have to get all my schoolwork turned in today (because we will be picking Melora and Toryn up tomorrow!!!!!), we'd be putting the top down on my Tracker and heading out to DeKalb.
