Now I would not buy it on that belief. If someone wants a Nook that can surf the web, get the Nook Color. ![]() |

I can't tell for sure if the device will be rooted or not, maybe, but because runs Android under the hood, once you get access to Android Market I'm assuming the user can also download a browser and install it. Again, under the assumption someone root it and you get access to Android Market. |

Well we drifted a bit from the OP topic.... but I think the best advice seems to be for the OP to get a e-ink dedicated reader to complement her net book. Since she wants to travel internationally with it that seems to limit her to the the Kindle 3G, is that right?
Personally I prefer to only travel with one device if possible, but to replace the net book she would need a tablet, and not a dedicated e-reader. |

Don't know whether Sony's are "country locked" but I thought they were international too. At least I hadn't seen anything saying "you can only buy from country x". I did see someone say that us Brits can't officially buy from the Sony store as its US only - but there are loads of UK sites for example we can buy from. Its just the Sony store that's not internationally available (I think).

![]() If I could, I'd travel with my Entourage Edge Dualbook, which has both a tablet AND an e-ink reader that is softer on the eyes. So I agree, I would prefer to travel with only one device if I could. Sadly, I really *do* need the functions of Win7, Android doesn't quite cut it whether it's a dualbook or a nook or whatever, so I need to carry the netbook, which is just slightly heavier than the dualbook. At least I don't have to carry my business laptop, which is about like carrying a fat cat, and as awkward too. So, yeah, a netbook companion is ultimately what I need, and thank you all for helping me to realize that. In the end, so far the Kindle has the edge on the others, only because of int'l EVDO. I've ordered one, so we'll see how it goes soon. Thanks again! And feel free to be OT as much as you all like ![]() |
