but it seems that most people choose graphite, as it most likely has a better appearance when reading, and i guess if i not 100% happy with it, amazon would exchange it. decisions, decisions... |

For me neither is better than the other (I've used a K3 in both white and graphite and the K2 is white as well). Some folks do seem to prefer the darker color though.

I read on the white K2 for quite a while and liked it. I got a graphite K3 and like it too. The graphite definitely looks cool in the black Kindle cover. I'm happy that I have not experienced the problem with the keyboard letters rubbing off that some graphite users have reported. |

I was planning on getting the white Kindle before I got a red Sony. My friends commented that the colour would be a distraction for them, but honestly, when you start reading you stare at the screen and don't notice the colour around it. So, if you prefer the idea of a white reader, get it in white. I doubt you'll find that you mind it when you start using it. And, worst case scenario, as you said, you can always exchange it. If the price is not an issue, I'd go with 3G. Last edited by Ivy; 06-02-2011 at 03:50 PM. Reason: Adding one more reply. |

I read that the darker Kindle was easier to read due to contrast, but I don't know if that's true or not. I do know that graphite is more color neutral (like black stereo systems) so goes with just about anything. Also dirt on the case doesn't show up like it would on white.

I have the white wifi/3G Kindle 3. If I grow tired of the white, I can put a skin on it.

I had a white K2 and then when I got my K3, I got the graphite but I've always wished I had gotten the white. In the future if I have a choice I'll get white.

I put a black skin on my Kindle 2 and it really did help with the contrast. However, I'm not sure if the gains are the same on a K3 thanks to the Pearl screen. So in the end, I don't think it matters. I wonder how well the white holds up to dirt? I had a white Macbook for a few years that started to yellow on the palmrests.... |
