@dixiegal: i wish. i'm still finishing up my second degree and am doing a part-time job, but even when full-time, moving out is not usually done with most families here, especially chinese ones. we're supposed to only move out after we get married. i am just hoping to be able to get a job abroad. if i tell my parents i want to move out, it's going to open another can of worms...or snakes, either way xP
@monts: thank you ![]() |

![]() No, I only meant that confiding those visceral feelings with people or a person outside of your family you felt close to and could trust (people who understood you were venting the extreme feelings while also implicitly needing someone to hear your thoughts and reasons...sometimes, just people who understood they were an ear, and not an answer) can be a good thing. Sometimes when you put things into words, a way forward arises. Sometimes when you put things into words you can see how silly or meaningless or trivial they are. Sometimes when you put things into words you can find the deep core of the problem. And sometimes you don't need to put things into words but just into one long AAARRRRGGGGHHHHH!!!! because it feels good (and an empathetic ear will AAARRRRGGGGHHHHH!!! along with you. ![]() Cheers, Marc |

I am jinxed. Everything I have touched tonight has broken. The Western Union machine at work (which is also the way we sell money orders) tells me "out of docs". I don't know how to refill it, and neither does my night manager. Only Bookkeeping and our Customer Service manager are trusted with that job, because every single money order must be accounted for. So I put a sign on it saying "No money orders and no received Western Union transactions" (because for received WU, it prints a money order, which I then cash.). So this customer comes in and wants to SEND money. I figure, "Well, that doesn't require a money order, should be okay". Yeah, right. I punch in the transaction number, the machine asks for the paper form to print on, which it then refuses to take, but prints his receipt ON THE MONEY ORDERS IT JUST TOLD ME IT WAS OUT OF!!! Grrrrrrr..... I call my night manager and another Customer Service rep. who was working as a cashier tonight. Neither of them can even get the dang machine apart to unjam the money orders. And it's STILL telling me it's "out of docs". I finally transcribed the customer's transaction number off the ruined money orders for him and sent him on his way.
Our Red Box video rental machine is also broken. They're doing something to its computer insides remotely, and it's making this high pitched noise that sets every child in the store to wailing (I felt like wailing, myself), and probably every dog in a five mile radius to howling. Powerball is up to 200 million or so, so every time I turn around, someone's at the service desk wanting to buy tickets for that. Fortunately I managed to not break the lottery machine.... |

oh and DIXIE! if you haven't gotten anything yet and can wait through the weekend, it is the National Open House Weekend and a lot of properties are being promoted. it would be a good day to go to another brokerage, get a map and look at things on your own

Something is bugging me about Amazon. Now, I love Amazon, and I don't think I've ever had a bad transaction there. I did have a pbook order come as an empty envelope once, but I just had to call order support and they happily overnighted me another copy of the book. So my issue isn't with products, service, support or any of the usual stuff.
My issue is being hounded for feedback on Marketplace transactions. "Please leave feedback for these transactions" emails from Amazon, and lately I've also gotten emails from the Marketplace sellers asking me to leave feedback. Since one order can contain items from 10 sellers, the emails add up quickly. I know that the feedback ratings are important. I get that, I really do. But Amazon is a retailer. It's not eBay. To me, it's the equivalent of cashiers chasing me down the aisle of a store saying "rate us!". I would love it if Amazon would just send one email a month with a link to a list of unrated transactions for that month, and nothing from the seller unless there's an order problem. I can't be bothered to do it more often than that, honestly, and the more I hear about it, the less I want to do it. And by the time I finish rating the seller in the various categories, I've lost the desire to review the product. So that's my rant for today. The cramps might have something to do with my irritability. |

And yes, Amazon is getting annoying about the ratings.

Don't do the negative talk. It sounds like you turned a bad day into a triumph. The other day I got up to do a bit of work and said I bet this take forever. My wife said you've just made it happen and it did. I really believe in the power of positive thinking.
Making big decisions after a big trauma is never a good way to go. Personally, I'd sit it out a while and rent and watch the market over a couple of months. Then like a gator watching all the game come to the water you can pick off the best critter while nicely rested and all brain cells firing. Some times we can make the easy choice rather than the right choice when we are tired of the waiting or get bad service. |
