I'm guessing it is out of control of this plugin/Calibre, but gonna ask anyway:
I am creating collections based on series. Does anyone know of a way to get the books within a series collection to sort based on the calibre book number of the series? |

See the first post in the thread under Calibre tips for book titles.

Maybe you could clarify this in the first page instructions? I know it probably seems obvious to more experienced Kindle users, but this is the first (and possibly only) time many of us will restart our Kindles this way. For those people who are looking for it: Click the "menu" button; scroll down to "Settings" & click. Once you are in Settings, click the "menu" button *again*, then scroll down to "restart" & click. (Not exactly intuitive, is it?) |

Restart can be tricky. But under Create's First Use, and under Edit, the Restart information is already in Bold to stand out in the instructions. I'm not sure how much more it can be clarified.
And when you run Create or Edit, a dialog box pops up telling you to Restart your Kindle. Now maybe there I can add how to do this. |

I've updated the first page to make it a little more obvious - highlighting the Restart your Kindle text a bit more and adding a statement to say that restarting is not just using power on/off. And the next version will show how to do a Restart in the information dialog. There is a lot of information around, and it can be easy to miss this. If anyone else has issues/questions just post - there's far too much old stuff to read through in this thread ![]() |

I am very very pleased with calibre and the plugin - my English is not so good to post here a lot but I want to tell you to give this wonderful programm a big chance and you will be very pleased. It is exactly what you want for your books.
I have a Kindle Wifi and it works great together greetings ![]() |

Is there a way to create & maintain collections from "saved searches" ?
Edit: I decided to create User Categories based off of my saved Searches. Last edited by Nyssa; 05-29-2011 at 11:04 AM. |

Version 1.6.3 released
A new release is available on the first post of this thread (see my signature).
Changes include: - Fixed creating extra collections in some circumstances when using a split character - Added check in Import to skip import if no collections are found on the Kindle - Added option to keep existing Collection timestamps instead of forcing them to sort by name in Sort by Collections - Added information on how to restart Kindle to save dialog A new option for those of you who read a lot more than me ![]() Finally tracked down the bug giving Vaesse an extra collection when splitting by author. It was a problem with python lists - instead of making a copy of a list of for each of the authors listed for a book I was using the same list for each. And to avoid zeroing out any columns when importing collections I've added a check to abort the import if no collections are found on the Kindle. This shouldn't usually happen, but at least if it does it won't cause any issues, and maybe we can track down what causes it. |

What I find interesting about this, is that though I saw one instance of the problem, the solution fixed four. It seems to me that I would never have spotted this issue (despite it absolutely effecting me) if it weren't for the fact that the one of the authors it effected for me was Michael Crichton and his brother Douglas Crichton. (They wrote one book together that wasn't on my Kindle, but everything I had for Michael was also showing up under Douglas.)

Thanks a ton for all of your work on this plugin meme. It's great to be able to manually update my collections from the PC, or auto create if I want to.

Feature Request: Currently, if I import (Add) a new book to Calibre, and set the Collections column for the new book, when I then send that book to my Kindle, it doesn't put the new book in the collection, but leaves it out at the top level. It would be nice if the process of sending to the Kindle would also put it into the correct collection(s).
Thanks! |
