S l o o o o w l y getting there. I've lost 61 pounds in 14 months but the first 50 came off in the first 7 months. Another 5 to 7 pounds to go. About five more years, I figure.

You guys are doing great! Applause!
My few clothes are falling off. The swimsuit that I bought the other day is a size smaller than the one that I bought just a month ago. The crotch of my shorts is dragging down around my knees. ![]() |

This morning I got to 61.6kg (136lbs). It was a mini-goal as it means I have lost 33% of my weight of about 8 months ago. My aim is that extra 1.6kg (3.5lbs) to get me to the even 60kg (132lbs). Quote:

60kg
![]() Now up to about 75 after saying that 70 was my upper limit. Since my scales are in the bin, I will have to measure around the middle when i get going again. That being said, I will aim for 65ks which should make all my clothes fit well and that lumpy stuff around my middle should be gone. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

I'm only 167cm (under 5'6") tall, so pretty short. I initially aimed at under 70kg (154lbs) as that placed me into the BMI "normal" range, whereas I was all the way past "overweight" into "obese" (I realize BMI isn't necessarily the best measurement - consider it one of the things that I used as "guideposts" for weight loss. I was, assuredly, obese though, by most any definition).
So, 70kg was my BIG GOAL. Once I got there, or just before, I then considered whether I could stand to lose some more. I could, and so my new BIG GOAL became 65kg. Again, as I approached it, I realised that I had more body fat I could stand to lose, and recalibrated to 60kg. This will place me basically right in the middle of the "normal" range for BMI (52kg would be "underweight"). My bodyfat measure is in a "fitness" range (noting that "fitness" has been part of my routine and intent). And just from self-awareness of my visible body-shape and fat, it is at the point of contentment for me. It is possible I may put on some weight, as I may be stepping into some proper training (swimming), as competing in that leg of a team-triathlon is somewhat of a goal. I get lower-half exercise from biking, but not so much upper- (so swimming may increase my weight there). And our "diet" has worked nicely. We're not only eating food better for you, we're eating (and cooking) better food. Making new stuff from all our chef books and such, from fresh ingredients often sourced from our local farmers' market, has become an interest in itself. In fact, I'm just about to start some breadmaking from scratch. Hopefully if I get the hang of it, I can expand my baking horizons beyond a plain loaf. Cheers, Marc |

Ooh winter is the best time to make bread.
I found if you make a softer plain bread dough and then add seeds during the kneading process (It is a little tricky getting them to stay in). I add sunflower (pepitas), linseed (flaxseed) poppy and sesame seeds. Ooh that reminds me I must soak the beans for the bean/vege casserole. That is a good healthy dinner that won't have me mooching afterwards for sweetie things. I will try harder to lose some weight soon. (Just as soon as I consume all the chips choclate, sour cream, baileys and cointreau - good thing the ice cream is all gone) New mantra! "nothing tastes as good as slim feels" I feel skinnier already ![]() |

Thanks for the bread tip. I would like to get our daily bread down pat, and our bought stuff actually sounds similar to your suggestion, but a rye, so I appreciate the suggestion.
Also, beans and vege sounds good...recipe? We just bought some fish for tomorrow night (aside from some of the "steak" fish, fish is not something I used to at all like, but my tastes appear to have changed), but I also bought some frozen sandcrab meat from the local fisho...I want to make a crab meat and sweetcorn soup, which I reckon'll be a nice winter-night meal if I can do it right. Cheers, Marc |

Recipe for bean soup. they are soaking now see... Spoiler:
I was more difficult to write that down than it is to do it. I have had this recipe in my head for years gradually making it up and changing it as i go. i hope you have a go at it and enjoy it as much as we do. it is so adaptable to whatever you have. Maybe add some pasta? |

Just got to the cooking stage and realised I forgot to include the chilli in the recipe. I guess you can leave that out if you don't like it, but bean soup should clear the sinuses too. Add about 1 teaspoon (any more and it is too hot for bloke) of minced chilli when you put in the anchovies and onion. Chop it real fine if you use fresh ones.

Today I hit the 10kg mark! I'm now down to 54kg, which I think is a pretty good weight for my 164cm
![]() ![]() I've been adjusting my goals as well, because I lost weight so fast, I've only been dieting for 4 months. At first I wanted to lose 6 kg, then 10kg and now I'm thinking of losing a couple more. I'm sort of in between pant sizes right now, which means every pair of pants I own is half a size too big. So if I lose another 2 to 3 kg I should be one more size down ... But I have to be carefull, because I don't want to go below 50 ![]() I've only recently grasped how much weight I've lost, even though people have been telling me for 2 months that you can really see that I'm slimmer. I was walking past a building with reflective windows a couple of days ago, caught a glimpse of myself and thought: "damn. I look so thin" ![]() |
