It's not that the light itself is yellowish cast, but it's a softer light then either of my other two lights. It's more like the difference between an incandescent and fluorescent bulb.
I tried the USB connection with the arm out and while it's slightly easier to plug it in, it's still a very tight fit that requires a good strong push and pull to remove it, it didn't change the tightness at all. |

Have you noticed? It is the same USB as the Sony has.

Actually, I didn't compare them until you said that, it just "looked" smaller. Even though the Sony plug is thicker, it still fits nicely without having to swing the arm of the light to the on position, and the plug does fit better, it slides in easier. Thanks for the tip.

I got this one on ebay for less than $4. Does not scratch my Sony 900 (rubber lined), is not too heavy and takes AAA batteries that I can recharge. Two tiny lights and easily adjustable to avoid glare etc.

$4 on eBay?? I'm gonna guess that it's a cheap Chinese knockoff of the Mightybright light. It certainly looks like it. Please do be careful. You get what you pay for with the Chinese sellers on eBay - crap!
Just because something is made in China doesn't mean it's the same quality as the original, brand name one made in China. I have a major hate on for those guys because they're so prolific at stealing people's copyrights & selling shoddy and fake product to unsuspecting folks. Be careful of it overheating on your reader! |

If you don't want your design stolen and sold cheap, then don't have it made in a cheap chinese factory. Many of these knockoffs are as good or better than the over priced original. I I would pay the overprice if it were made say in OZ, but it is often made in the same factory with less mark up added) I admit one must be careful, but it was worth risk for the price, and it is very good. LEDs tend not to over heat. (will watch the battery casing)
Also the price was probably really cheap because the Ozzie dollar is so high at the moment. Even buying US stuff is cheap cheap! ![]() Last edited by SneakySnake; 05-29-2011 at 06:52 PM. |

Yes, we found that out with otterbox cases and certain American earphones, didn't we? The factories simply went on manufacturing more (often with slight differences, such as the absence of visible branding on the product) and those were then sold for much less.
Still -- is this really a knockoff of the Mighty Bright? If so, is the Mighty Bright actually made in China? |

It doesn't say it is a mighty bright light and wasn't marketed as such. Until this thread I didn't really know what a mighty bright light was. After looking on the net, it does appear to be very similar.
A couple of fora mention that the mightybright is made in China. Perhaps a member with a "high quality" original will be able to tell. I bought my cheapie from Hong Kong, so I guess that it would be made in China. |

I have a lot of experience on eBay and it's usually always junk. PayPal 'protection' is a joke. The only way to get 'protected' is to send it back where you got it with online delivery confirmation. Go check with your post office as to how much that is to China. It ain't cheap! My concern wasn't the lights overheating but the battery compartment. I've seen and read far too many horror stories of electronices, purses, dresses and makeup coming from China. Dog food was poisoned, lead in kids toys, formaldehyde in toothpaste among others. Not for me thanks. Yes the Mightybright lights I have all say made in China. |

How snugly does it attach to the 900? I tried a Mighty Bright XtraFlex2, and it was very loose on the 350.

I buy lots of stuff from Hong Kong, and understand the risk(better odds than the pokies). But the only thing I had that didn't work (a bike light) they sent me another one for free. We eventually managed to fix the original, and ended up with two.
I wouldn't buy food or toothpaste etc from there, but if a USB bluetooth stick is $30 in the shops and $2 in Hong Kong, you can guess where I am going to try. p.s. The bluetooth device was the same brand etc. I suspect the local importer just repackaged it. |

Most of the USB keys/thumbdrives whatever you choose to call them on eBay from China aren't what they advertise them to be. Not all, certainly but sadly far too many of them. They say they're X GB but they're much smaller than advertised.
Many people report that the units have been tampered with to appear to be the advertised size - X GB but when the user gets to a certain point, the whole thing dies and they lose data. I always tell people buying from China on eBay is like gambling - don't risk what you can't afford to lose. There's someone on the eBay boards I used to chat with that for some reason seemed to think it was cheaper to keep buying garbage knockoff iPods from China that would die after a few weeks than invest in a legit one where he could get service, support and a warranty. ??? I could never understand that logic but to each their own right. ![]() |

Tight enough to hold it on, but is does wobble a bit if you shake it. The 900 also has a cover attached which I fold back. I just tried it without including the front cover and it is loose enough to move slightly when you shake it around, but stays put for normal reading movements.
