If multiple devices have the same USB Id's then Calibre cannot tell them apart and they can often be detected under the name of the one first added to Calibre.
Note that Calibre now includes the user defined device driver that allows you to set up your own device identification (although you would have to first disable the one it is incorrectly being identified as). |

I've never had a Pandigital Novel which was detected after upgrading to 0.8.2. My IQ (with the same micro-SD) has often been connected to and identified by calibre. The same goes for my Android phone. So far I've never had any problems with my devices. That's why I still think it's a bug. Can anyone point me to the settings to "disable" the PDNOVEL? |

Support for your android phone will be in the next release, you can disable drivers via Preferences->plugins.

I disabled the plugin for Pandigital Novel, but now calibre doesn't do anything with my PocketBook IQ: Version: 0.8.2 USB devices on system: [['0xbda', '0x158', '0x5887', 'Generic', 'USB2.0-CRW', '20071114173400000'], ['0x1d6b', '0x1', '0x206', 'Linux 2.6.32-31-generic uhci_hcd', 'UHCI Host Controller', '0000:00:1d.0'], ['0x1d6b', '0x1', '0x206', 'Linux 2.6.32-31-generic uhci_hcd', 'UHCI Host Controller', '0000:00:1d.1'], ['0x5986', '0x241', '0x1404', 'BISON Corporation', 'Lenovo EasyCamera', ''], ['0x18d1', '0xb004', '0x224', 'PocketBook', 'PocketBook', 'PocketBook'], ['0x1d6b', '0x1', '0x206', 'Linux 2.6.32-31-generic uhci_hcd', 'UHCI Host Controller', '0000:00:1d.2'], ['0x1d6b', '0x2', '0x206', 'Linux 2.6.32-31-generic ehci_hcd', 'EHCI Host Controller', '0000:00:1d.7'], ['0xa5c', '0x2150', '0x601', 'Broadcom Corp', 'BCM2046 Bluetooth Device', '002269F7653F'], ['0x1d6b', '0x1', '0x206', 'Linux 2.6.32-31-generic uhci_hcd', 'UHCI Host Controller', '0000:00:1d.3']] Available plugins: ALEX ALURATEK_COLOR ANDROID ARCHOS7O AVANT AZBOOKA BAMBOOK BLACKBERRY BOEYE_BDX BOEYE_BEX BOOQ BOOX COOL_ER CYBOOK DBOOK E52 E71X EB511 EB600 EBK52 ECLICTO EDGE EEEREADER ELONEX ESLICK FOLDER_DEVICE_FOR_CONFIG GEMEI GER2 HANLINV3 HANLINV5 ILIAD INVESBOOK IPAPYRUS IREXDR1000 IREXDR800 IRIVER_STORY ITALICA JETBOOK JETBOOK_MINI KINDLE KINDLE2 KINDLE_DX KOBO LUMIREAD MENTOR N516 N770 N810 NEWSMY NEXTBOOK NOOK NOOK_COLOR NUUT2 ORIZON PALMPRE PDNOVEL_KOBO PICO POCKETBOOK301 POCKETBOOK360 POCKETBOOK602 POCKETBOOK701 PRS505 README S60 SHINEBOOK SNE SOVOS SPECTRA STASH SUNSTECH_EB700 SWEEX TECLAST_K3 THEBOOK TREKSTOR USER_DEFINED VELOCITYMICRO WEXLER Looking for devices... The only driver in the calibre codebase that matches that set of USB ids is the driver for the PD Novel, I don't see how calibre could have detected it as anything else before. The PD Novel requires books to be in the eBooks directory on the card and not in subdirectories. Put your files there and calirbe will see them with the PD Novel driver, or alternatively create a custom driver: http://calibre-ebook.com/user_manual...-connect-to-it

My Android phone has a "metadata.calibre" as of 2011-01-26 sitting on the root of the sdcard. This micro sd has always been in my phone and nowhere else, but I changed the model just lately. It's still an Acer, but my betouch (Android 2.1) was detected, the Liquid (Android 2.2) is not. So I thank you, Kovid, for hinting me to the root of my "problem" which is no problem anymore. HelliH |
